Where is Castle Howard and what is its history?
The vast stately home is located in North Yorkshire, England.
It's easy to get to Castle Howard, as it is just 15 miles from York and has good transport links.
Even though its name suggests otherwise, the venue is a country house and not technically a castle.
Following its construction in 1699, it has been owned by the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for more than three centuries.
When can I visit Castle Howard and how much is entry?
Guests are more than welcome to peruse the historic house and gardens at Castle Howard.
The gardens are open from 10 am, with the last entry at 5pm. The house is open to the public from March to November.
To avoid disappointment, always check the for date-specific opening times.
Adults pay £18.95 to visit, whereas children pay £9.95.
Concession and family rates are also available.
Those wanting to enjoy a spot of Afternoon Tea at Castle Howard have the option of paying around £25 extra for the privilege.
What events are on at Castle Howard?
The official website has fun events booked for the remaining months of 2018.
There is currently a Mat Collishaw Exhibition running until September and they also run tours of the gardens, workshops, festival and school holiday activities.
Talks and open days are also held and a spooktacular Halloween event is usually on during the October half term.
Christmas events at Castle Howard include meet-and-greet with Santa himself and nights focused on angelic decorations.

What TV shows and films have been filmed at Castle Howard?
It's no surprise that a grand stately home makes the perfect filming location.
TV shows, including period drama Death Comes To Pemberley, have been shot at the venue.
As well as this, the stunning backdrop was used in the filming of movies including The Buccaneers, The Spy With A Cold Nose and Brideshead Revisited.
