Supermodel Heidi Klum unveils her new clothing range for supermarket Lidl
The model is bringing a high-end touch to the budget supermarket with an 85-piece purse-friendly collection
LIDL is best known for its cut-price food – but now it is going after your wardrobe as well as your fridge.
The German supermarket has teamed up with supermodel Heidi Klum to create an 85-piece collection for its Esmara clothing range.
Prices start at £4.99 for a simple cami top, up to £49.99 for a suede jacket.
All the pieces come in a number of colours – so if you like a piece, you can stock up.
Heidi said: “I am making real clothes for real people. I’m going to every woman out there. When she buys her eggs . . . she can also buy a blazer.”
Here, model ALEJANDRA COSTA, 31, from West London, puts the new gear – out now – to the test. She gives us her verdict, as does stylist SIOBHAN O’CONNOR.
Look 1
Alejandra says: The blazer is very fashion-forward. Lidl has paid attention to current trends but the fit isn’t the best.
It’s tight on my shoulders and loose around my boobs. These skinny jeans are a bit tight but are great value.

Look 2
Alejandra says: THE jacket feels expensive and fits perfectly but I would rather spend £50 in Zara, to be honest.
The top is comfy. I would wear it and I’m not a big fan of leopard print. The boots are smart and practical.
Rating: 8/10
Look 3
Alejandra says: HEIDI might feel confident in this at 44 but it feels too short for me and I have to keep pulling it down. The jumper is thick, warm and soft – perfect for winter.
You can pick it up in a few different colours.

Look 4
Alejandra says: PERFECT for an evening frock, it doesn’t look or feel cheap.
It’s a nice fit and could easily be mistaken for a high-street store rather than the supermarket.
The heels look expensive but are £20. I was unsure about shopping for clothes in Lidl but would buy this lot.
Rating: 9/10
Look 5
Alejandra says: THE coat definitely looks better on than on the hanger but the material feels cheap.
If the fabric was more structured, I think it would be more flattering.
I might feel less conspicuous in a different colour.
Rating: 4/10
Look 6
Alejandra says: I REALLY like this simple, stylish dress. The puffy sleeves make it more on-trend and it’s a bargain.
I thought the low price would affect quality but this doesn’t feel cheap at all. The boots don’t rub and feel sturdy.
Rating: 8/10
Look 7
Alejandra says: THIS is ideal for the office. The blouse feels thin and is quite sheer.
The skirt material feels cheaper and creases easily. I prefer this skirt length to the mini, though. It’s a good “desk to bar” piece.

Stylist's verdict
THIS collection is trendier, more daring and better quality than Lidl’s usual clothing range.
The fabric on certain pieces – such as the trench coat – could be better.
But the standout suede jacket is made well and fits nicely, although shoppers might not be prepared to spend £49.99.
All in all, I was impressed.
