People share brilliant ‘doppelganger’ snaps of themselves with lookalike paintings at museums and galleries

THESE are the people who ended up seeing double when their educational trip to the museum took a bizarre turn.

In a series of snaps shared on social media, visitors to museums and galleries shared the moment they came face to face with their historic doppelgangers.

Originally shared on , these brilliant frights at the museum saw jokers posing beside their painted lookalikes to showcase the uncanny resemblance.

Many of the subjects in these paintings look so unnervingly similar to their modern day counterparts that people have questioned whether they could be distant relatives.

Some photos show people who seem to have the exact same faces as their lookalikes, while others are all in the hair or the outfits.

And it doesn't just stop with portraits: one lad even found a life-size model which looked so similar to him that he couldn't pass up the photo opportunity.
