DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE

Stunning home seen on Doctor Foster is actually a £6m prefab whose real-life owners were paid £5k per DAY for letting producers film in it

THE explosive second series of Doctor Foster is here... and the viewing appeal doesn't stop with the drama of the doctor's disjointed life.

In the first episode of series two, Doctor Gemma Foster, played by Suranne Jones, gatecrashes her ex-husband Simon's party, held at a swanky glass-fronted mansion.

But it's the stunning four-bedroom house itself, complete with an indoor pool, which has really captured some viewers' imaginations.

When she checks out her ex-fella's home, the doctor is clearly impressed, saying: "So this is what you get for £1 million."

But the reports that, in real life, the mansion is actually worth a fair bit on top of Suranne's estimate, coming with a hefty £6m price tag.

And there's more to the five-bathroom Surrey mansion than meets the eye - it's actually a prefabricated home, made off-site and then assembled in sections.

The swanky flat-pack pad is made by , who build the components over in Germany before shipping them to the UK.

Then, once the parts reach the desired site, a team of 40-50 workers put the house together in a week to make a stunning luxury home.

Nick Esser, Huf Haus’s development executive in the UK, told the Mail on Sunday that he was a little surprised when he saw the scene in Doctor Foster where the house crops up.

He said: "I was watching the show with my wife and when we heard the mention of a million pounds she burst out laughing.";

The home's real-life residents were willing to give up their property during the weeks while filming was taking place.

In return for moving out for a little while - and letting producers remove all the furniture - the mansion's unnamed owners were reportedly paid around £5,000 per day.

The house was specially selected to be used in the show, after a search to find a suitably flash pad for Simon, played by Bertie Carvel.

When they came across the Surrey prefab, producers decided it would be a good fit for Simon, who is always looking for an excuse to show off in front of his ex-wife.
