Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford reveal what it’s really like discussing their sex life on TV and how they keep the romance alive
The This Morning couple also talk fantasy dates and name their top interviewees ever
CHEERS, Ruth and Eamonn! Do you enjoy a tipple after a long day at work?
Ruth I’m definitely the drinker of the couple. White wine, gin and tonic or prosecco are my favourites.
Eamonn Unfortunately, I don’t feel the need to drink every day. I say unfortunately because sometimes I think it could be a good way to unwind. It helps Ruth.
What’s it like working and living together?
E A tremendous privilege. The dynamic is different from what it would be if we worked in other professions. In many ways, it’s less professional because we’re quite intimate on-screen.
R We don’t argue on air, that’s a fallacy. I just don’t always agree with everything Eamonn says.
How do you keep things romantic?
R I never talk about work at home. We have date nights, although Eamonn’s much better than me at instigating them. He’s definitely the more romantic one.
E I’m more grateful to be in this relationship than Ruth is!

Is it weird talking about your marriage and sex life on TV?
R Sometimes we’re stuck between a rock and a hard place because if we say: “I don’t want to talk about our sex life,” then people will think there’s something wrong. But if we say: “We’re very happy in the bedroom,” then everyone tells us to get a room.
Does your 15-year-old son Jack ever get embarrassed?
E He’s more likely to complain if we dance together!
Who have been your fave This Morning interviewees?
E Hillary Clinton was amazing – I really believed she was going to be the next president. Pierce Brosnan, John Travolta and Tom Hanks were also great fun.
R Jeff Bridges was very charming. They say don’t meet your heroes because you’ll be disappointed, but what I loved most was that he talked so fondly about his wife.
Cute! Have you ever disliked a celeb?
E We sometimes immediately don’t like people because they’re up themselves. Some of them are massive stars, which is fair enough, but some aren’t and never will be.
Who would be your fantasy date?
R I’d like to go for a drink with Bill Nighy. When I met him he was very funny, and he’d have good stories to tell.
E We should go and see that film he’s in – Their Finest. You could think about Bill and I could just look at Gemma Arterton.
R Yes, he loves Gemma Arterton. We could double date!
Do you ever get indecent proposals from fans?
E I had all that when I was younger. Now I mainly get MILFs who are simply bored.
R [Laughs] University students like me. But when we go to parties, my female friends gravitate towards Eamonn because he notices things. He’ll say: “Your hair looks nice,” or “How did that job interview go?”
You sound quite the Casanova, Eamonn! Do you enjoy all the female attention?
E I’m comfortable with men, but I’d rather go for a night out with women. I find them much more interesting.
R You’re not a blokey bloke are you?
E Definitely not!
