But Reuben de Maid, 12, has revealed he has been tormented by vile trolls for his look.
Who is Reuben De Maid?
Reuben from Llandaff, Wales became an online sensation after he performed on the Ellen Degeneres Show in April.
The singer's incredible performance led to many comparing him to Adam Lambert - a star who is famous for his glamorous appearance.
Reuben is appearing on American talent show Little Big Shots, which is produced by Ellen herself and claims to feature “the world's most talented and extraordinary kids”.
When did Reuben De Maid start wearing make-up?
Reuben explained: “Ever since I was eight years old I was interested. I watched my phone for hours on end learning from tutorials and blogs how to do it.”
He admitted he tries to wear make-up to school, although he gets told off for it.
He revealed some kids haven’t reacted well and he said: “Before I used to get bullied a lot, I had friends but not a lot and in my drama group I used to get hit, punched and kicked.”
Reuben has garnered quite a following online, and boasts over 100,000 views on his YouTube channel.

When was Reuben De Maid on the Ellen Degeneres Show?
Reuben recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going from the Dreamgirls musical before being interviewed about his love for make-up.
Ellen shared a link to her interview with Reuben on her and wrote: “I absolutely love this kid from Wales – his voice, his character, his uniqueness, all of it.”
In the clip, Reuben could be seen sporting perfectly applied make-up for his chat with the popular American comedian and when asked what he wanted to be when he grows up, Reuben said he wanted to be “a Kardashian”.
Why has Reuben De Maid been bullied?
The Welsh youngster opened up about the sick abuse he has suffered, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.
He said he has seen the darker side of fame as he has been targeted by trolls who have been sending him nasty messages.
Many have been giving him abuse over his choice to wear foundation, eye shadow and mascara.
He said: “Because I’m quite different from everyone else – I don’t know why people decide to be mean to me.
“Someone the other day made an account on Instagram [which was like] ‘Reuben is stupid’."
Host Piers Morgan was sympathetic to Reuben’s plight and insisted the trolls are just “jealous” of his talent.
