I make £500 profit by reselling Home Bargains viral beauty buys, but I’m trolled for ‘unfairly’ clearing the shelves
The man has been dubbed 'greedy' for the 'disgraceful' shopping trip
A MAN has come under fire for snapping up viral beauty buys on the cheap to then resell them online to make profit.
The savvy shopper, only known as @, took to TikTok to share how he allegedly made more than an eye-watering £500 after clearing the shelves at Home Bargains.
According to the money-smart customer, fellow cash-strapped Brits can head to their local high street to scan for profitable items.
During his trip to the discount retailer, the Amazon reseller stumbled across popular beauty buys that were ”ridiculously cheap”.
Some of these, he showed in , included JoBaz Hair Colour Remover, as well as Dry and Rough Skin Solution by The Inkey List.
The Jobaz Hair Colour Remover was going for just £4.49 at Home Bargains – but the savvy shopper discovered that it was selling for a tenner online, thanks to a special app..
”There’s not loads of money made in that – but they’re a good box filler,” said the reseller, who claimed the dye remover was selling a whopping 1,000 times a month.
Meanwhile, the Inkey List bargain was retailing for £14 on Amazon – whilst Home Bargains fans can snap it up for a mere £3.49.
”Where the real money is at are items like this – an entire shell full of Inkey List products costing £3.49, some of them we’re doubling our money from.
”Most of them we see about 60% to 70% return, selling loads of times every single month.
”Our mission from there was to clear every single Home Bargains in my area,” said the man who allegedly forked out an eye-watering £1,000 at the tills.
”We’re doing this through Amazon FBA. This is where you send your products into Amazon’s warehouse, they store all of your products, fulfil all of your orders for you while taking a fee.
”Which is why you may have noticed that the Jobaz is only £1.20 profit when I was buying for £4.49 and selling it for £10.”
However, whilst we may have made an extra £500 in practically no time, the response on TikTok wasn’t so positive.
Numerous people, including beauty lovers, flocked to comments to slam the reseller, with one person saying he shouldn’t clear the stock fully.
What is retail arbitrage and how does it work?
Retail arbitrage just means reselling a product on for profit.
It is completely legal in the UK, as, once you own an item, you have the right to resell it.
Using an app called BuyBotGo, resellers scan items they find in the supermarket, and the app tells them how much the products are selling for on Amazon, and how many times they have been sold in the past month.
The reseller will make a profit on the items by reselling them using Amazon FBA.
Amazon FBA is a service that online sellers can use, where Amazon takes care of the storing, packing and shipping of your products.
So all the reseller has to do is send the products off to Amazon and wait for the money to roll in.
”Not really fair taking all the stock from people who can only afford the home bargains price though?”
Another agreed, writing: ”And shock you leave nothing for anyone else.”
Someone else wondered: ”Also why would I buy them off you on Amazon when I can just go to home bargains and buy it at that price????”
”Thanks, I’ll go to Home Bargains for what I need now I know they’re cheaper than amazon, luckily there’s no people like you in my city so it’s always fully stocked,” a fourth chimed in.
”That’s greedy. People can’t afford to hardly live and there’s you clearing shelves for profit. Disgraceful,” someone else shamed the reseller.
After being slammed online, the man hit back at the critics, claiming that he had left loads of items in the store.
”Not even close to all the stock, we bought about 4/5 different product in a store with thousands of different ones.”
