Mums outraged after spotting a leather MINI SKIRT for 18-month-olds, and say they ‘wouldn’t even buy it’ for themselves

MUMS have been left outraged by a toddler’s mini skirt from the high street retailer H&M, which some say they ”wouldn’t even buy it” for themselves.
The popular store sparked fury after one mum, TikToker Hannah, showed the ”leather” garment she had stumbled across at H&M.
Furious parents slammed the Swedish brand for the leather-look clothing item that’s designed for kids from the ages 18 months to ten years.
Advertised on the fashion website as a , the piece is described as “short” in length with an outer shell that’s made from 100% polyester.
Thanks to stylish mums, the controversial skirt has won an impressive 4.7 star rating, with shoppers raving about the “perfect fit”.
However, numerous mums on social media, including Hannah, were anything but impressed with the item which they dubbed ”weird”.
”H&M I love your toddler clothes… but a leather mini skirt on a baby is weird,” Hannah said in , which has since taken the internet by storm.
The clip, posted on , sees the trendy customer pick up the garment and showing it from all angles.
Hannah, who added she didn’t ”like dressing children like adults”, said the leather-look garment confused her “on so many levels” and was concerned about children feeling ”uncomfortable” wearing the £8 item.
Dozens of web users flooded to comments to express their frustration – however, there were also plenty of those who didn’t see an issue with the black skirt, which is currently on sale.
One person didn’t see what the fuss was all about, writing: ”I think this would be so cute with black tights black boots a little white T-shirt and a leather jacket?? What’s the issue ?”
Someone else agreed, commenting: ”genuine question, whats the issue compared to any other material? its not like its pvc leather or something.”
To this, Hannah hit back, replying: ”I’d feel similarly about a baby boy in a tux – I just, personally, don’t like dressing children like adults.
”Toddlers should be wearing comfortable clothes, this is not it.”
A third chimed in: ”That’s not going to be “mini” on a child, come on.”
A mum's perspective on little girl's clothes
Mum-of-two and Senior Digital Writer at Fabulous, Sarah Bull, has shared her thoughts on buying clothes for young girls.
She shared: “I’m lucky enough to have both a son and a daughter.
“And when it comes to choosing outfits for my kids, I have always erred on the more demure side of things.
“Even with swimwear, I don’t like the idea of little girl wearing a bikini, and will always opt for a one-piece for her when we go swimming.
“My daughter, who’s six, is still in the stage of loving “girly” clothes like tutus and anything that glitters.
“But if she went to a shop and picked up a mini denim skirt or a pair of leather shorts that she wanted me to buy, I know for a fact that I’d put my foot down.
“She’s got years ahead of her to wear what she wants but, as her mother, I’ll be as firm as I possibly can over her wardrobe choices.
“So no, put the leather shorts back, and swap the miniskirts for a fluffy tutu instead.”
Other horrified viewers were also shocked by the cut-price product, expressing their concern that the skirt was not appropriate for kids.
”What happened to kids wearing Peppa pig and Barbie clothes, I LIVED in my Barbie jeans when I was young,” one person wondered.
A fellow mother was just as gobsmacked, slamming the retailer: ”I wouldn’t even buy that for myself let alone my 3 year old.”
”It’s just getting worst, can’t even buy girls normal tops these days,” another mum said.
”Everything is crop tops. Drives me insane.”
