Lidl fans raging after joining lengthy queue to nab new £5 beauty boxes only to be left empty-handed at checkout

Fans reckon some beauty buffs only purchased the boxes to then resell them for profit elsewhere

BARGAIN-MAD Lidl shoppers were raging after queuing up online to snap up the viral beauty boxes - only to be left with nothing by the time they got to the checkout.

The mega discount retailer launched a bargain Valentine's Day box with £60 worth of items for just £5 - however, not everyone managed to get their hands on the epic deal.

The gift box included Lavish Shower Gel, which buffs previously claimed is like a dupe for Lush body washes.

Also included were the D’Avignon Handwash and Luxury Hand Lotion, which shoppers have previously said are identical to L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream.

And if you were keen to get an Aesop dupe on a budget, Lidl's Aromatic Body Cleanser was also included in the bundle.

These were just some of the 19 products included in the bundle.

But unfortunately for a number of money-smart Lidl shoppers getting their hands on the box - ideal for Valentine's Day - turned out to be a nightmare.

Eager to snap up the bargain find, which landed online at 10am Thursday 6th February, thousands flocked to the site - where they were met with disappointment.

According to furious customers, who had allegedly joined the online queue before 10am, there was a technical ''glitch'' which meant they weren't able to place an order.

Fuming with their shopping experience, numerous people took to the popular where they claimed the product was ''sold out within five minutes''.

One bargain hunter said: ''Got to the cart exactly at 10am and waiting time was one minute - and sold out!''

Another chimed in: ''Same! Got in the queue at 9.59, eight minute wait, one minute left and sold out.''

The frustrated Lidl shopper also added that there may have been some people who had purchased the beauty boxes only to then resell them for profit elsewhere.

''They'll be on eBay in the next few hours as usual.''

A third vented: ''I got in the queue as soon as it opened and it was sold out within five minutes.''

''Tried four others with more than sufficient funds and then sold out on my fifth attempt. Huge glitch with their website.''
