Tom Smith, a British hairdresser with over twenty years of experience has shared his opinion on what cuts to get.

He said: "Let's do three hairstyles that are gonna make your face look slimmer.

"This is not to say that having a slim face is the most important thing, but for those of you that want to slim and contour the look of your face, haircuts can really help with that."

He first showed a picture of Beyoncé, who recently won her first Grammy for Album of the Year.

He picked an image of when the superstar had long platinum blonde hair but there was a key detail to the look that made her face appear thinner - feathered layers to frame the face.

He said this technique literally hides the sides of your face making it look slim and casts shadows to contour your cheekbones.

The hairdresser also recommended the 'skinny lob'.

To the untrained eye it looks like a normal long bob but this one has layers underneath.

The fact that the hair gets thinner around the chin means it gives the illusion that your face also gets slimmer.

Last but not least, he recommended a half-up, half-down do, sported by Anne Hathaway, who added volume to her clipped-up section of locks.

Tom added: "This one's my favourite trick, by giving volume up here, it's stretching the length of your hair, making you look taller and the face framing layers slim the face."

The clip was shared to his TikTok account @and went viral with over 316k views.

People were quick to thank him for the advice.

What are the biggest hair care mistakes?

Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at spoke exclusively to Fabulous.

Not looking after your scalp

Your scalp is an extension of the skin on your forehead and it should be given similar attention and care to the skin on your face. Scalp health is vital to healthy hair growth. Your scalp is your hair’s support system, and a flaky or inflamed scalp can contribute to hair loss and also impact the quality of hairs as they emerge from the follicle. Do cleanse and tone your scalp frequently. Try to leave no more than 2 days between shampoos.

High heat styling

The most common cause of hair damage is high heat styling – either with a blow dryer or straighteners. While it may take a little longer, a low to medium heat setting will give you great styling results, but without dryness, breakage and split ends. You should also always use a heat protective product such as our Daily Damage Defence and don’t hold your dryer right next to your strands.

Not eating well

Even if you’re using the best products in the world, if you aren’t eating well your hair’s condition and rate of growth won’t be at its optimal. Hair is a dispensable tissue as it isn’t needed for physical survival. This means nutrients are first used to keep essential cells functioning, with hair receiving them last.

Another commented: "The best hairdresser on here."

"I need a side part... any options," penned a third.
