A CONTENT creator has revealed that she was struggling to survive, so quit her job to join OnlyFans.

The 24-year-old from Texas, who uses the pseudonym Zara Dar, said goodbye to her bio-engineering career to become a full-time creator on OnlyFans - and is now raking in the cash.

As reported by , Zara is now one of the app’s top creators and has made over $1.4million [£1.1million].

Zara earned a jaw-dropping $50,000 [£40,000] in her first three months on the app and in December last year, she cashed in a staggering $240,000 [£192,200].

But despite her success on OnlyFans, Zara, who “never imagined” she would make so much money through the app, insists that unlike other creators, she doesn’t do porn.

After starting OnlyFans, Zara began posting lectures to YouTube and Pornhub in 2023, focusing on science, technology, engineering, and maths.

And on OnlyFans, in addition to posting STEM content, she shares erotic photoshoots and exchanges messages with fans, which has proven a major source of revenue for creators on the platform.

According to her dashboard, Zara's total income from messaging is $661,000 [£529,450] - yes, you heard that correctly.

Unlike many OnlyFans creators, Zara said doing both STEM lectures on YouTube and PornHub alongside adult content on OnlyFans "makes my approach not only unique but also more relevant to who I am."

Prior to her OnlyFans career, Zara spent two years in grad school at a top-tier university.

There, she achieved a master's degree and worked toward a doctorate in biomedical engineering.

But she left her doctorate program at the end of 2024 after realising "it wasn't the right fit."

And whilst she was surviving on "barely enough to cover basic living expenses”, she decided to think about other ways to earn a living.

Whilst Zara didn’t reveal how much she was being paid whilst studying, she explained that just one YouTube video made her $40,000 [£32,000] in only 24 hours - more than her annual salary whilst a graduate student.

And whilst many people may assume that Zara posts porn on the adult app, she claimed: “The truth is quite the opposite.

"OnlyFans has given me the freedom to learn, research, and share whatever I'm passionate about.

What is OnlyFans?

OnlyFans is a subscription content service based in London.

As of 2023, it is thought to have more than 220million registered users and over three million content creators.

Sex workers charge monthly fees for access to pictures, videos and more.

While popular for porn, the site isn't exclusively designed with that in mind - anyone who wants to build up a fan base and charge them for it can set one up.

Celebs like Katie Price and Kerry Katona are popular personalities on the platform.

"Whether you’re uploading tutorials, tips, behind-the-scenes footage or just endless selfies, a lot of your followers would be willing to pay for them," the company states.

For every subscription that's sold to a viewer, performers get 80 per cent of the cash while OnlyFans gets the rest.

It isn’t limited to adult content, as it has become popular with physical fitness experts and musicians.

Zara now has 149,000 followers on Instagram and 150,000 subscribers on YouTube and despite how much she makes, she said she is careful with her money.

Not only does she invest her cash, but she also tries to live frugally, and avoids luxury purchases.

As well as this, Zara shared her advice for creators considering OnlyFans, as she stressed the importance of finding a niche and to "never do anything you're uncomfortable with."
