What areas of your kitchen only need cleaning every 3-6 months?

Appliance Interiors

Some appliances need less cleaning than others.

When it comes to fridges and freezers, aim for every three months or so.

Defrosting a fridge freezer can take a few days, depending how much ice has built up.

It is always a good idea to air the fridge out, to avoid it smelling when you restock it.

Oven racks

How often you clean your oven depends on how messy you are..

If you're lucky, you might be able to get away with doing a full clean just once a year.

It is important to make sure you clean the racks, not just the oven walls.

Caked on food can smoke out the oven and smell your kitchen out.

The pantry

Whether you have a pantry or you're just looking to clean out your kitchen cupboards - this is a task you should be tackling once a season.

That way, any seasonally appropriate ingredients can be used up and you can make space for new items.

You can also check the dates on foods in cans and jars, to ensure you have as little waste as possible.

Refrigerator coils

All fridges use a unit that releases heat through coils – usually located at the back of the fridge or across the bottom.

But the coils on these can become grubby with various debris such as dirt, dust and hair.

As dirt accumulates, the fridge then becomes less efficient - and could even break.

But the good news is, you don’t have to worry about cleaning away this muck too often.

To keep your fridge in tip-top condition aim to vacuum up the dust around twice a year.
