We test three hydrating lip treatments at all price points – cheapest option stays put for hours

Read on to find out which option is best for super-chapped lips
Three lip treatments: Patchology Lip Service gloss-to-balm, Ilia lip balm, and Tatcha The Kissu Lip Treatment.

I’VE got chronically dry lips, and can’t stand them being chapped, so I will try pretty much anything to stop them becoming tight and dry.

This week, I put three hydrating lip treatments to the test.

Patchology Lip Service Gloss-To-Balm Treatment, £12 for 15ml: This comes out like a gloss and is pretty sticky at first – which was an immediate red flag – but the innovative transforming gloss-to-balm formula quickly settles into a rich balm and the stickiness disappears within seconds.

Packed with honey, aloe vera, glycerine and goji berry extract, it’s super-moisturising and stays put for hours so you only need to reapply a couple of times a day – it’s my new favourite.

Mid-range

Ilia Beauty Lip Wrap Overnight Treatment, £26 for 10ml, is great if you have super-chapped lips

Ilia Beauty Lip Wrap Overnight Treatment, £26 for 10ml: If you have super-chapped lips, this is the one to use.

It’s gently exfoliating – which means you should not apply it more than twice a day – and will help get rid of any dry, flaky skin.

The exfoliating acids are balanced with nourishing vitamin E and hyaluronic acid which left my lips smooth and soft after a few nights of consecutive use – patience is key.

However, I have one gripe – the packaging.

I much prefer a format that can be applied without using my fingers, so it loses a few points for that.

Luxury

Tatcha The Kissu Lip Treatment, £42 for 10ml, needs reapplying frequently

Tatcha The Kissu Lip Treatment, £42 for 10ml: I’m a huge fan of the Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask, £27 for 9g, so I had high hopes for this treatment – especially given that it’s in a tube which makes it more handbag friendly.

I love the silicone applicator tip – it’s comfortable on lips and stops too much product being dispensed – but I have to say that I didn’t notice a major difference after a few days of using the treatment.

It’s super-thin, almost like a serum, so disappears quickly and needs reapplying frequently.
