One Instagram account, Adventures in Jelly, has racked up more than 60,000 followers.

Supermarkets have had a surge in shoppers buying jelly cubes, while one vintage supplier said it enjoyed a 500 per cent increase in sales of jelly moulds last month.

And the trend has even reached Michelin-starred restaurants.

Jelly artist Sienna Murdoch pegged the trembling revival on jelly’s “cheap and playful” nature.

She added: “Retro always comes back around. Like bell-bottoms and the colour brown. Now it’s jelly time

The classic favourite has been revamped for modern times, including innovations such as savoury flavours and making them bite-sized to be put in cocktails.

Some are intrigued by the health benefits of wibbly-wobbly puds – up-and-coming jelly brand Gelee sells pretty jelly discs containing beef gelatine, apple cider vinegar and guava.

It claims the treats can help with gut health and vitamin C intake.
