A WOMAN who married her step-brother has revealed they are now expecting their first child.

Despite the hate they have received online, the controversial couple called their unborn baby their "Christmas miracle."

Scarlet Vas and Tayo Ricci shared their excitement over the news in an Instagram .

Sharing a snippet from their wedding in Greece, they gave their followers a look at their lives "one year later."

The actress and model could be seen sporting a baby bump as she posed alongside her husband in an orange maxi dress.

"Baby Ricci, our Christmas miracle," Tayo wrote in the caption of the post.

The Australian couple first met as teenagers while growing up in Sydney.

They previously explained that their parents knew each other first, eventually introducing them to each other.

When their parents began dating, the teens joked about becoming step-siblings.

However, this did not stop them from pursuing their own relationship.

Scarlet still occasionally refers to her husband as her "step-brother" on her social media.

They even referenced the unusual origins of their relationship in their pregnancy announcement, calling each other their step-sibling before showing off Scarlet's bump.

While the couple said they couldn't wait to welcome their daughter, not everyone shared their excitement.

Their followers shared their thoughts on the unique family in the comments section.

"This is gross, they're related and married and now have a baby on the way," wrote one viewer.

"That kid is so screwed," said another person.

"Their parents must be either disappointed or embarrassed because there is no way," commented a third Instagram user.

Is it legal to marry your step-sibling in the UK?

While step-siblings are not blood-related, there are certain circumstances which may prohibit them from marrying.

In order to wed both people in the relationship must be aged 18 or older.

The younger person must not have lived under the same roof as their partner when they were younger than 18.

They must also not have been treated as a child by their partner's family.

"Having a kid with your brother is wild," pointed out one TikTok user.

"I feel bad for this kid, bro's going to get bullied," wrote another follower.

"Technically, they're not biologically related but [it's] still disturbing," commented one viewer.
