I DIY’d a candy-themed Christmas garland that covers my house – it’s not over the top, I think it looks spectacular
A MUM has transformed her home into a winter wonderland, by making a DIY candy cane lane garland.
Laura Melling has always loved extravagant Christmas decorations and is constantly looking for new ideas to jazz up the front of her house.
The mum of two spent three weeks crafting her candy cane Christmas wonderland, with the help of her husband and two daughters.
Taking to TikTok, the DIY whizz showed off a stunning candy cane garland, which she made from some old Christmas tree branches, some plastic chicken wire, and a wooden frame.
Fixed to the tree, are giant lollipops, which Laura cleverly crafted using a £2 turkey tray, some plumbing piping that her husband had lying around, and some £3 swimming noodles.
The garland is also adorned with a selection of colourful baubles, which were purchased from Home Bargains for a total of £10.

"We've just added and added each year", she said.
Laura's husband fixed the garland above the front window, using screws and a drill.
Continuing the Christmas transformation, her husband then climbed onto the roof, and put together a gingerbread house, which Laura made from a free playhouse she got from Facebook Marketplace, some £15 spray paint, expandable foam, which came to £5 and some playballs which she already had.
"He hates me at this time of year, but secretly loves it as well," she said, as her husband fitted together the house.
To finish off the Christmas display, Laura created some giant hot chocolates and giant cupcakes.
To do this she used some buckets, which she purchased for £1, some expandable foam, and paint, which she purchased for a fiver.
The finished project looked stunning, and is sure to be the envy of Laura's neighbours.
Thankfully, Laura said that the neighbours are big fans of her display, as is her husband, who she said loves getting involved in the fun as it makes the kids smile.
TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their love for Laura's DIY creation.
One person said: "That’s such a fab idea using a play house as a gingerbread house.
"Looks absolutely fantastic."

How to save money on Christmas shopping
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.
Limit the amount of presents - buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.
Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you're not having to buy multiple presents.
Plan ahead - if you've got the stamina and budget, it's worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.
Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you're not forking out more than you should though.
Buy in Boxing Day sales - some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.
Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.
Shop via outlet stores - you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.
They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
