But when it comes to a man asking out a woman, she expects that he'll pay the bill himself when they meet up.

She endured an awkward experience recently and admits she was bewildered by her suitor's actions.

The mum of two, from Edinburgh, said: "It doesn’t matter how much money anybody has got.

"But when it comes to a first date, I hate it when a guy wants to half a bill.

"I always believe a guy should pay.

"If he wants to take you out, he should treat you.

"I had a disaster a few months ago.

"He was a schoolteacher and I liked the fact he was normal.

"We had pizza and the meal came to £30 and he asked if I had change and we could go halves.

"I said 'what?' It’s like a bucket of water was dumped on my head.

I'm a 'love expert' - the exact moment you should leave your partner because it's not going to 'magically get better'

"Wee things like that give me the ick."

Megan added: "I was shocked and I think it’s standard to pay on the first date.

"I said 'no, you asked to take me on a date' and it went really awkward.

"I didn’t speak to him again yet he was hammering my phone.

"He was asking if I want to go out again."
