I’m a cleaner and this is the best room to air dry clothes to avoid mould – and it’s not the bathroom

  guru Laurence Smith has shared some of his best tips to dry clothes inside without worrying about damaging your home.

So, here's how to dry your clothes like a pro.

Although it's not ideal, Laurance explained that it's perfectly safe to dry clothes inside "as long as your home is well-ventilated."

It's all about taking a few simple steps to reduce the moisture in the air, he told .

First of all, you should dry wet clothes inside for more than 24 hours, the pro said.

It's at this point wet clothes can start to smell and mould can become an issue, which you obviously want to avoid.

It's for this reason you should also avoid drying clothes in the bathroom, since it's an environment that's already damp.

Not only that, but your laundry will take longer to dry in a damp room.

“If you have a dedicated laundry room, a spare room or a garage, this is the best place to dry your clothes," Laurance explained.

And if you don't have a spare room, try and dry clothes in a room you use the least, this could even be your dining room.

By doing this your clothes will have the best chance at drying fast, he explained.

To speed up the process even more Laurence suggested keeping the door to the room closed to keep heat in, or even opening a widow to "encourage airflow".

Where to dry clothes if you're short on space

If you don't have any spare rooms to dry clothes, don't worry, you can still dry your clothes fast and without causing mould.

According to the pro, your best bet is to space clothes on a drying rack and leaving it near a heat source.

However, he warned against leaving wet laundry directly on radiators, since this could lead to a "humid room".

You could also invest in a ceiling-mounted drying rack to save floor space, the pro added.
