I’m in love with my own dad – we’ve had a secret relationship for over a decade, nobody knows who he really is
A WOMAN has opened up about her extraordinary relationship, admitting that she has been romantically involved with her biological father for ten years.
The 28-year-old explains that she was adopted as a baby and she didn’t meet her dad until she was 18.
Taking to Reddit she explains that she experienced what is known as Genetic Sexual Attraction, or GSA.
It is a condition when people are attracted to close relatives, usually ones they meet later in life, by the familiar feeling they bring with them without the incest taboo being in place.
And this was very much the case for the woman who spoke out in the hope to 'dispel the misconceptions' around GSA.
Writing in the recently resurfaced post, she explains: “My parents did their best and I love them, but I just could never stop wondering who my biological parents were.

“When I was finally old enough, I started searching for my biological mother since I had her name.”
She explains that after much research she finally found her biological mum, who agreed to meet her to ‘get to know her.’
“Eventually the topic of my biological father came up. I had grown up with the understanding that my biological mother probably did not know who the father was, simply because she was a teenager at the time,” she writes.
“I always thought I might find her, but never in a million years thought that I would find him.”

After making contact with him, the woman explains that she felt ‘excited’ after seeing his photos and exchanging messages.
She says: “He is a very handsome person, and extremely well spoken. We hit it off immediately.
“Even without any contact or knowledge of each other for two decades, we had nearly identical senses of humor, similar interests, tastes in music. . .I could go on and on.”
She explains that she and her father would stay up all night talking despite her having a boyfriend and him in a 20-year-marriage.
“My boyfriend became very jealous even early on, and so did his wife, as we were just pouring tons of attention into each other,” she adds.
She says that once they met their relationship became even more ‘intense’ and they were ‘attached at the hip.’
But it was their second visit that saw things get ‘out of control.’
“He and I were talking at night in the dark,” she remembers.
“I don't know what I was thinking, but as we were talking I just instinctively leaned over and kissed him. And I didn't stop, and it didn't stop at just kissing.
“At that point, we put ourselves into a very complicated and difficult situation that would unfold over many years.”
The Redditor explains that she moved closer to her father with their relationship continuing.
“I was basically the "other woman" in his life at this time,” she says.
“We had to pretend to those around us that nothing was going on, although a lot of people suspected as we didn't act in a typical ‘father/daughter’ fashion.”
WHAT IS GENETIC SEXUAL ATTRACTION?
Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) is when sexual feelings develop between two family members who first meet as adults.
It can happen to parents and children, siblings and half-siblings, usually when one has been abandoned, adopted or raised apart due to divorce or separation.
In the UK, sex with a parent, child, sibling, nephew, niece, uncle or aunt is defined as incest and is illegal under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
People who commit such crimes can face a maximum two-year penalty.
The term GSA was coined in America in the 1980s by Barbara Gonyo, who founded a support group after her experience with the son she met 26 years after adoption.
Explaining how his wife had become jealous, she adds: “It's really tough to explain the conflict of emotions there.
“I wanted to be with him, I wanted them to be gone, but at the same time the child in me wanted to have that picture perfect reunion and life following the reunion that I always wanted.”
Several years later her father divorced his wife and moved in with his daughter.
She adds: “I felt terrible for what happened to their marriage, but at the same time I wanted her out of the picture because I was in love with him in a way that I had never felt, and that I don't believe I ever will feel again.”
The woman explains that they both battled immense guilt but somehow ‘survived the ordeal’ - they are still in a relationship today but have no plans to have children.
“When we meet people now, we portray each other as boyfriend/girlfriend,” she says.
