JUST in time for the festive season, Lidl has unveiled a new range of Christmas candles so shoppers can fill their home with festive aromas.

With prices starting at just £2.49, customers can get their hands on the new collection in the store's middle aisle from today.

The candles can be bought from stores now

With Google searches for Christmas candles soaring by 136 per cent this month, shoppers can get these holiday-inspired scents.

The candles which are "ideal for adding a splash of Yuletide joy to any home" come in different styles and claim to add a "welcoming touch to all the rooms in your homes."

So, I decided to put them to the test.

Light Up Candles, £6.99

These candles come in various scents, including Winter Glow and Peppermint Candy Cane, both of which I had the chance to try, as well as a third scent called Sparkling Snow

These candles are quite similar in style to the Marks & Spencer light-up candles, which cost between £10 and £15.

When you light the wick, twinkling lights appear around the candle, creating a magical and festive atmosphere.

My initial thoughts were that these candles are adorable and very festive with their sparkling lights.

I immediately pictured myself relaxing on the sofa, with the Christmas tree sparkling and my candle glowing on the side table.

However, I did find the smell to be a bit disappointing.

Both candles had a somewhat plastic, new car scent, which felt a bit out of place.

There were faint hints of peppermint in the Peppermint Candy Cane candle, but it wasn't particularly strong or overpowering.

The Winter Glow candle, on the other hand, had a scent reminiscent of a car air freshener.

If you're looking for a strong, lasting fragrance, these might not be the best choice.

Yasmin thought they were great for display purposes but had second thoughts on the smell

In terms of appearance, though, they are great.

If you're looking for decorative purposes and don't want to spend a fortune, these candles are a fantastic option.

But if you prefer a stronger scent along with festive decoration, it might be worth looking elsewhere.

Personally, I would suggest spending a few extra quid on one of the light-up candles from Marks & Spencer, as I find their fragrances tend to last longer.

Bauble Candles, £2.49

These baubles are incredibly chic and perfect for decorating your Christmas tree or home. They come in two delightful scents: Berry Spice and Buttery Shortbread, both of which are really moreish.

I can only describe them as giving off warm, wintery vibes.

The Berry Spice is super sweet and has a trifle-like aroma, while the Buttery Shortbread smells like a luxurious white chocolate-scented body cream.

The baubles are smooth to the touch, and their design looks high-quality.

I think they would make a thoughtful gift for someone or be a lovely addition to your home for a festive touch without breaking the bank.

They add a wonderful touch to my living room and are personally one of my favourites.

The Luxury Collection, £2.99

These candles cost £2.99 each or two for £5
They also have matching scents for those shoppers who prefer the defusers

I also got my hands on their ‘luxury’ collection, featuring new scents including Ginger, and Apple and Cinnamon.

These candles, which are also available as diffusers, cost £2.99 each or you can buy two for £5.

If you’re after something chic and minimalistic yet still festive, these are a great addition to the living room.

The scent isn't overpowering to the point of causing headaches, but it’s noticeable enough when someone enters the room.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the diffusers as I think the candles carry the fragrance better.

Another plus is that these candles can easily transition into January without looking out of place in your living room.
