According to Abbas Youssefi, co-founder of , certain hues can bring instant warmth to a space, making it feel cosy and welcoming - without reaching for the heating switch.

Here are the six colours you should be incorporating into your home this winter.

Deep Terracotta

Warm and earthy, terracotta is a grounding colour that brings a sense of nature indoors.

Perfect for walls or accent pieces, this shade can create a cocooning effect that feels cosy and sophisticated.

Abbas said: “Terracotta is a fantastic choice for winter because it exudes warmth. It’s bold yet comforting, and its earthy tone adds depth, making rooms feel intimate and inviting.”

Mustard Yellow

If you’re looking to bring in a bit of sunshine during the darker months, mustard yellow is a go-to.

This rich, golden hue adds a cheerful warmth to any room, from living areas to kitchens.

“Mustard yellow is perfect for adding vibrancy without being overpowering,” Abbas explained.

“It’s a colour that works especially well as an accent, such as on cushions or throws, adding instant warmth to a space.”

Forest Green

It pairs beautifully with wooden furniture and natural textures, enhancing a cosy, woodland feel.

Abbas added: “Forest green has a wonderful way of creating a restful yet warming atmosphere. It’s ideal for creating a snug space where you can escape the cold.”

Rich Burgundy

Burgundy's not just the colour of the season in the fashion world.

This deep red hue adds a luxurious touch to interiors, bringing a sense of richness and depth. It’s a great choice for feature walls or even in smaller touches like cushions and rugs.

Abbas said: “Burgundy instantly makes a space feel more inviting.

“It’s a sophisticated shade that adds warmth and elegance, making it perfect for winter.”

Soft Taupe

For a more neutral approach, taupe is a dark gray-brown colour which offers a soft and subtle warmth that works across various interior styles.

It’s an ideal choice for a base colour, pairing well with both cool and warm accents.

Abbas said: “Taupe is timeless and has an understated warmth that can make rooms feel snug without overwhelming them. It’s great for creating a relaxed, cosy atmosphere.”

Burnt Orange

Burnt orange brings energy and warmth, making it a beautiful choice for winter. It works well as an accent colour, adding warmth without being too intense.
