A BEAUTY guru has revealed the anti-ageing treatment that she swears by after working in the industry for 20 years.
Georgia Day has sampled countless skincare products as a beauty and wellness contributor at Vogue.
She joined beauty journalist Twiggy Jalloh, Sheer Luxe Editor-In-Chief Charlotte Collins, and aesthetics expert Dr Wassim Taktouk on the podcast.
The group spoke candidly about their skincare routines and thoughts on products created for anti-ageing.
Twiggy said her biggest skincare rule is being consistent with the products that work for her skin despite constantly being sent products to test for her work.
“When you’re an editor or journalist, you receive so many products all the time and I’m testing so many things,” she said.

“And I have quite sensitive, oily, combo, acne-prone skin so I’ve had to stick to the products that I use and stop using so much.”
She swears by ceramides, azelaic acid, and “gentle” PHAs to protect her skin barrier while fighting acne.
Georgia said having a minimal skincare regimen is good advice for everyone as it helps them learn what works best for them.
She claimed it can be overwhelming shopping for products at shops such as Boots or Sephora.

“We’re such a generation that expects results now but to Twiggy’s point consistency and compliance are everything,” she said.
“My biggest thing and I think people think beauty editors are the most boring people in the world, but really knowing how important an SPF in your routine is.
“I was listening to a founder the other day who said ‘If there was a cream that everybody knew could prevent breast cancer you’d be smothering it all over you every single day.’
“‘SPF is honestly one of the most important things that can prevent not only skin cancer but skin ageing.
“I think almost every sign of ageing is exacerbated or caused by UV damage so it’s the one thing that you can really use to control how your skin ages.
“When you think about it like that it becomes less boring and a chore but rather something you want to do every day.”
Twiggy agreed with the importance of regularly using SPF and said it also helps for an even skin tone.
The Importance of SPF
WITH summer finally here, here's everything you need to know about SPF.
1. Protects Against UV Radiation:
- SPF shields your skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays, specifically UVA and UVB rays, which can cause sunburn, premature aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer.
2. Reduces Risk of Skin Cancer:
- Regular use of SPF can significantly lower the risk of developing various types of skin cancer, including melanoma, which is the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
3. Prevents Premature Aging:
- UV exposure accelerates the aging process, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. SPF helps maintain youthful skin by blocking these aging effects.
4. Maintains Even Skin Tone:
- Sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Using SPF regularly can help prevent these issues, leading to a more even and radiant complexion.
5. Essential for All Skin Types:
- Regardless of skin type or tone, everyone is susceptible to UV damage. SPF is crucial for all skin types to maintain healthy skin and prevent damage.
6. Everyday Necessity:
- UV rays can penetrate through clouds and windows, making daily SPF application essential, even on cloudy days or when indoors.
Georgia said people are starting to focus on “ageing well” rather than trying to look younger than their age.
“It’s not that I want to erase every line from my face or have a complexion that’s clear as crystal, I just want to age in a way that suits my lifestyle,” she said.
She urged beauty enthusiasts to use trusted skincare products instead of following trends on social media.
“Homemade remedies - wasn’t there a fad at one point for smothering your face in Vaseline or castor oil,” she said.
“It’s just no. It’s boring but trust the clinically proven ingredients and give it time.
“Lemon juice squeezed on your face is not going to suddenly make your skin shiny, bright, and beautiful there’s a reason why there is so much research behind them.
“They work but you have to have patience.”
Twiggy said lemon is “painful” on the skin and warned that just because something makes your skin burn doesn’t mean it’s having a positive effect.
Dr Wassim Taktouk revealed it can take at least six weeks to see if an over-the-counter beauty product is effective.
Alongside a personalised skincare routine, Georgia revealed she slows skin ageing with a lactic acid peel.
“It’s an AHA but really well tolerated,” she said. “If you find glycolic is a bit too strong or too punchy for you it’s a nice one.

“It gives really good brightening, smoothing, retexturing results that I’m a big fan of.
"In clinic and there's also some topical ones that I rate as well. For me, that's a reliable treatment that works."
