A WOMAN has revealed that she gave her ‘depressing’ and ‘dated’ kitchen a mega makeover without breaking the bank.

The savvy DIY enthusiast explained that she was given an eye-watering quote from Wren Kitchens, but by transforming the space herself, she was able to save around £5,000.

Niichole S Cootte shared that she used bargain buys from B&Q, eBay and Screwfix to give her kitchen a new lease of life.

Thrilled with her overhaul, which took four days, Niichole took to social media to share a before and after look at the space, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting on , a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, Niichole claimed that prior to its overhaul, her kitchen was ‘sad’ and ‘grey’.

She wrote: “Here is our before and after of our new kitchen (we are waiting for the delivery of the extractor fan cupboard!)

“Our kitchen before was very sad, very grey and very outdated. It was depressing and didn't allow our house to have much character.

“We managed to complete this in four days (even having a break between because I was unwell), working until very late at night so we could have our house back!”

Now, Niichole’s space is bright and warm, with stylish herringbone style flooring, trendy worktops and chic details.

Thrilled with the transformation, Niichole shared: “Understandably everyone has different budgets but ours was under £1,000 and in total we spent roughly £650.

“We managed to save around £5k as we had a quote drawn up from us from Wren, but we didn’t want to be in debt/have finance when we could *attempt* it ourselves!” 

Niichole then shared a breakdown of her kitchen overhaul, as she confirmed that she ditched the Mrs Hinch grey cupboard doors and got ten new ones from B&Q for £224 in total.

She also said goodbye to her boring cupboard handles and got 10 trendy gold ones for £15 from eBay. 

To brighten up the space, which is now currently on the market, Niichole bought white tiles for £92, and even had two boxes of spares.

She confirmed that she spent £18 on adhesive from Screwfix, £8 on grout and £30 on fablon from eBay. 

When it came to painting the kitchen, to give the dark space a fresh and bright new look, Niichole spent £18 on wall paint from B&Q and £45 on two and a half litres of colour matched paint.

Where flooring was concerned, Niichole forked out £150 and had it fitted by a local business.

She also bought two hinges for £4.50 from Screfix, a £15 tile cutter from B&Q and spent £30 on supplies, including paintbrushes, silicone, grout spreader, tile spacers and a trowel.
