People are just realising they’ve been using hairspray wrong & say it ‘makes so much sense’ once you know it
EVERY woman has added a hasty spritz of hairspray to their locks on the way out the door at some point.
However, people are only now realising that they have been using the hair product wrong, and actually enhancing their fridges.
In a viral , TikTok user Matt () revealed the common mistake people use when setting their hair.
The error is even recommended in the directions for use on most hairspray labels.
Majority of brands advise users to hold the can at least 30 centimetres from the hair while moving in a continuous motion.
However, haircare expert Matt shared how this technique can actually encourage frizzy flyaways.

"If you spray your hairspray right onto your frizzy flyaways straight from the can, it’s just going to freeze them in place standing up," he explained.
Instead, he demonstrated how you "would be better off" applying the product to a comb or brush before using.
According to the stylist, this method will help "to pat those frizzy flyaways down into place."
And if you're in a pinch with no comb or brush nearby, he suggested using your hand to work the product through your locks.

While the hair item may not have frizz ease properties, it can help to keep your flyaways in place.
"Hairspray won’t necessarily lay the frizz down but it will hold it down once you put it in place," Matt told his followers.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.
"Why do so many things seem like common sense.......after you say them?" asked one viewer.
"So I've been using it wrong my entire life? Thanks, I feel like my life has been a total lie. Thanks, TikTok," said another follower.
"Where have you been the last 37 years?! Thank you for all of these tips!" commented a third person.
"I could never understand hairspray as a teen like what, it was THAT simple?!" asked another TikTok user.
Three hair mistakes that are making you look older
THERE are some hair mistakes to avoid if you don't want to make yourself look older than you actually are:
- One dimensional hair colour - it's a good idea to visit a hairdresser to get your colour done. Using a box dye can leave you with one block colour, so steer clear.
- Hair that's too dark around the hairline - "Add softer, lighter tones and shades around the sides of the face to bring lift and life to your eyes; too dark a colour will do the opposite and feel very gaunt and dreary," Jack Howard, UK colour spokesperson for L’Oreal, said.
- Sticking to the hair colour of your youth - While you might have looked good with jet black hair in your 20s, the same may not be said now you're in your 50s. The general rule is that your hair colour should lighten with age, just as your skin tone does.
"Dude, I've learned more from you on TikTok than I have in 30 years of going to stylists," said one viewer.
"Why did that never register in my brain before? Thanks!!!" wrote another follower.
"I am amazed at how much I am learning from you! And I am 70!! Thank you so much," commented one TikTok user.
