Drying washing on an airer can take days, and often leaves clothes smelling damp.

This can also lead to mould, but the alternative, using the tumble dryer, can be very costly.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one mum complained that every time she put her daughter's school blazer in the washing machine, it came out smelling of damp.

She said she'd tried everything to get the smell out, from using scent boosters to Zoflora, but nothing had worked.
