It can be tricky to know what to buy a spouse this time of year, so one man has set about to find what women really want.

Posting to TikTok, Jamie Bachman asked women in their 30s to give him some advice on what he should get for his wife.

He said: "Thirty-something ladies of TikTok, what do I get my wife this year for Christmas?

"What's trending right now? What's on your wish list?

"And something that will earn me some serious husband points."

The post was flooded with almost 2000 comments, and many women said that same thing.

One woman said: "If she hasn’t got one already then a Shark FlexStyle.

"This has been my favourite present in the last two years and my husband is good with gifts."

Seconding this, another person said: "Shark FlexFusion, it's the bees knees and what I'm telling my friends husbands to buy."

A third person added: "A Shark FlexStyle, and something from Pandora."

Shark's FlexStyle 5-in-1 Air Styler & Hair Dryer can be picked up from Argos for around £200.

This may seem a little bit pricey, but since it's got five different uses, including curling and straightening your hair, it's the perfect gift.

Other popular suggestions from women were the Elemis skincare advent calendar, a Dyson Airwrap, Uggs, and Birkenstocks.

Women also shared some ideas of what men absolutely should not get their wives.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents - buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you're not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead - if you've got the stamina and budget, it's worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you're not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales - some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores - you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.

One woman said: "My husband brought me a Brita filter jug once… don’t do that!"

A second person said: "Don’t do what my ex-husband did and buy needed household items as presents.

"I got saucepans, a microwave and numerous kitchen implements!"

A third person said: "My ex gave me his ex’s ring (which she returned with a note when they split).

"Don’t do that!"
