AS autumn begins to swirl through the crisp air, there's one colour that's emerged as the undisputed shade of the season - burgundy.
A deep hue that captures the warmth of the colder months, burgundy has taken centre stage in the fashion world for Autumn 2024.
The rich colour returns to our wardrobes whenever summer leaves us - and this year is no exception, with high street retailers offering an array of burgundy garments.
One of the popular stores that's also jumped on the viral trend is New Look - and there seems to be one piece in particular that's become a major hit amongst shoppers.
With temperatures now slowly but surely dropping, many fashionistas have been on the lookout for the perfect outwear to keep them warm.
And if you want to feel cosy whilst also looking stylish, then New Look's is the ultimate pick to check out the next time you're looking to replenish your wardrobe.
The gorgeous coat, currently on sale slashed from £55.99 to a more affordable £44.99, is shaped with oversized lapels for extra cosiness.
It boasts a regular fit and is the perfect wat to layer up this winter - and the next.
Ideal paired with trendy jeans and biker boots for a more casual ensemble, this versatile wardrobe favourite can also be dressed up in no time.
Heading out for a date or got a Christmas party to attend? Rock the comfy coat with sexy knee-high boots and a pair of faux leather shorts and a chic blouse.
New Look customers can also snap up the stunning piece in three different shades - black, brown and pale pink, if you want to add a pop of colour to your wardrobe this year.
With so many styling options and a look that will remain a classic, it's no wonder bargain hunters have been loving this coat, giving it the maximum of five stars.
Primark shoppers rush to snap up viral autumn dress - it’s only £14 & looks stunning with tights & knee-high boots
One delighted New Look customer rated it with five stars, writing: ''Jacket feels luxurious and cosy, fit is quite big as I went a size down.
''I loved the colour, very on trend. Everyone has admired this on me.''
Someone else also advised to best go with the smaller size - however, their overall feedback of the ''classy item'' was excellent.
''Beautiful fake fur coat, I sized down one size though as I felt it was a generous fit. Looks lovely on.''
A third had nothing but positive things to say about the winter must-have they had purchased in a size 14.
''I love this coat. So soft and cosy. Lovely colour to cheer up the winter blues! Really comfortable.. Brilliant buy.''
Christmas Fashion Tips from an Expert
CLEMMIE Fieldsend, Fashion Editor at Fabulous, has shared her top tips for looking fabulous this Christmas.
AVOID: Christmas jumpers No longer a novelty gag, they’re now gone back to being naff and have no place at a festive party. By all means, go all in for Christmas Jumper Day for Save The Children, but never wear it before or after that day.
WEAR: Burgundy You can’t escape burgundy at this time of year and it's a luxury, deep and rich colour that is a welcome break from Santa-red at Christmas. Opt for silky textures or velvet for extra style points.
AVOID: PJs The trend of feather trimmed co-ords has had its day and is so dated. Don’t pull out your hair plucked pair this year, and don’t get a new set, instead still go for the satin two-piece but just steer clear of the plumes.
WEAR: Sequin Dress Try to switch up sequins slightly by wearing them with a different texture or colour, eg a sequin skirt with a sleek knit. But when you’re really stuck on what to wear reach for the sequins, it is Christmas after all.
AVOID: Sequin blazer Nothing worse than showing up to a festive do looking like the hired entertainment. Leave the sequin blazer to magicians and Strictly judges, instead always reach for a classic tux style or velvet.
WEAR: Bling trousers Last party season embellished jeans with diamante bling had a moment, and this year they’re going to be as much of a hit. If you don’t want gemstones pinging off wherever you go then try metallic, PU trousers.
Another fashionista, from London, said you couldn't tell the coat was from the high street as it looked more post than it actually was.
''Great little jacket for those winter nights out. Love the colour, almost more of a burgundy than brown.
''Goes great with jeans and even better with a dress. Looks more expensive than it is, and better than some of what the other stores that I visited had to offer. B
''Been looking for a while, so pleased that I found this unexpectedly on a visit when I least expected it.''
