The comprehensive study by experts at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China was conducted using two groups of participants.
It involved analysing 5,998 British individuals between the age of 37 and 73 and 7,931 Chinese participants aged 30 - 79.
The individuals were asked about their tea consumption habits, what tea they drank (including green, black, yellow or oolong) and how many cups they drank a day.
Researchers then analysed various age markers such as blood pressure, cholesterol and body fat percentage to discover the participant's biological age.

“The exposure-response relationship suggested that consuming around three cups of tea or six to eight grams of tea leaves per day may offer the most evident anti-aging benefits,” the authors of the study wrote.
The researchers attributed these anti-aging benefits found in tea to polyphenols, the primary bioactive substances in tea, which are believed to influence gut microbiota significantly.
This, in turn, impacts age-related shifts in immunity, metabolism, and cognitive function.
And that's not all, tea is jam-packed with antioxidants which can protect the skin from free radicals and molecules that can damage cells - slowing down the ageing process.
While the study did not delve into the specific types of tea, it found barely any differences in delayed aging between UK black tea drinkers and Chinese green tea enthusiasts.
Green tea has become an anti-ageing hero in recent years as it's full of antioxidants.
How is celery juice an anti-ageing potion?
Celery juice is packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and flavonoids, which combat free radicals that cause cellular damage and aging.
Its high water content keeps your skin hydrated and plump, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
The anti-inflammatory compounds in celery, such as apigenin and luteolin, help reduce chronic inflammation linked to ageing.
Rich in essential nutrients like vitamin K and potassium, celery juice supports overall skin health and body functions.
Drinking celery juice regularly can complement a balanced diet and skincare routine, promoting a youthful glow from within.
While it's most common to drink it, you can also get supplements and skincare with green tea extract.
Other suggest that green tea is able to delay collagen aging by an antioxidant mechanism that is in part duplicated by the combination of vitamin C and E.
