AFTER accidentally meeting her husband's mistress, one woman soon realised how the betrayal could get even worse.

She revealed that her husband's infidelity had led to the birth of a secret child.

In a Reddit , the unnamed user detailed the unfortunate situation.

"I just found out that not only did my husband of six years cheat on me but he has a child with his mistress," she wrote.

The woman revealed how she learned the truth, and it wasn't even from her husband.

She explained that she works at a Women, Infant, and Children Program, providing nutritional education and supplemental food benefits to "qualifying members."

"So, this woman calls in and asks if she can sign up for WIC, she just had a baby," the poster said.

As the Reddit user was setting up a new family profile, she asked for the woman's information.

"Part of setting up a profile is asking if the parent wants to add a second parent or guardian to the profile," she explained.

The new mum said she would like to add her fiancé to the new profile.

"She gives me his first and last and I'm thinking, 'Hey, that's my husband's name' but he has a kind of normal, generic name," she continued.

Even when the man's birthday matched her husband's the office worker chalked it up to coincidence.

"We have a Telehealth system so I tell her we need a photo of her ID and her fiancé's ID to complete the verification process," she said.

While she waited the half hour for the woman to forward the photos, the Reddit user recalled how she "tried to remain calm."

However, when the scan of the driver's license came through, her worst fears were confirmed.

She described how she couldn't breathe after learning of her husband's affair.

The poster explained that the timing of his work trip lined up with the baby's birth.

"He's been out of town for three weeks on business but I'll bet my whole salary he's been with her before, during, and after the birth," she wrote.

To make matters worse, the woman added that she had been struggling to conceive a child herself.

She explained that she felt too humiliated to tell anyone in her life about the situation.

"Our anniversary was last month, I posted this big, mushy thing on Facebook," she said.

"I feel like a damn fool. I'm not even heartbroken, I'm just numb."
