A CLEVER mum who divided her daughters' bedroom in two has hit back after people called it a 'dungeon'.

Scarlett explained that her two children aged six and one would be sharing a room until their dad came up with the idea to split it in two.

However it seemed not everyone was a fan of the idea at first so she decided to give them an update on its progress.

"A quick update on my one year old's bedroom who everyone and their dog dislike. Bunk bed gate," she wrote.

She had got round to decorate it as people had branded it a 'dungeon' or Harry Potter's cupboard because of one small detail.

As the room had been split into two, it meant that her youngest daughter's side of the room had no window - making it look dark and dingy.

But Scarlett used some clever interior tricks to add some extra light and make it feel homely again.

She first places lots of fairy lights up on the wall as well as a cute fluffy lampshade for the ceiling.

The mum painted the room cream which also allowed more light to come through.

To make the most out of the space, Scarlett used two Kallax units from Ikea to create a large wardrobe in the corner of the room - and placed her daughters doll house in the middle of the wall so it didn't take up floor space.

Scarlett previously revealed how the two bedrooms were made by her husband.

She said: "He used the bunk bed that I think we got online and he put some panelling and managed to panel around, fill in any gaps, sand, paint and made it look really good - almost like it was a wall that separated the two girls' bedrooms."
