TEENAGERS can often get themselves into sticky situations which leave them feeling uncomfortable or even in danger.
With this in mind, one dad has devised a secret text that kids can send their parents to let them know they're in trouble.
What is the secret text message?
Blogger Bert Fulks's children simply send him a text message with the letter 'X' if they are out and feel in danger.
This 'escape route' allows him to know his children need to be helped but means they don't have to go into detail in front of friends.
If the dad-of-three receives the text, he calls his son or daughter and tells them that there's an emergency and he needs to collect them straight away.
Because there is a lack of detail, he can go and pick up his child without them feeling embarrassed.
"I can't count the times sex, drugs, and alcohol came rushing into my young world; I wasn't ready for any of it, but I didn't know how to escape and, at the same time, not castrate myself socially.
"I know plenty of adults who struggle to stand up to others.
"This simply gives your kid a safe way out as you continue to nurture that valuable skill."
