How Lou Teasdale transformed herself from 1D’s pink-haired stylist to Andy Carroll’s super-tanned and super-toned WAG

SHE is the brand new woman on ex-England striker Andy Carroll’s arm, but even the most devoted One Direction fans would be hard pressed to recognise the group’s former stylist Lou Teasdale.
With her brunette locks, minimal make-up and covered up arms, Lou looks completely different to the pink haired, tattooed hairdresser who sent fans wild with envy back in the band’s early days, as she spent months on end touring with Harry Styles and bandmates.
As football star Andy’s estranged wife Billie Mucklow ditches her wedding ring following their split in July, he and Lou, 40, have been spotted getting coffee together, after sources confirmed they’d been on a string of dates.
Mum-of-one Lou, whose daughter Lux is now 13, has also reportedly romanced David Walliams and SAS: Who Dares Wins star Jay Morton and appears to have undergone a radical transformation since her X Factor days.
Here SARAH MORTON and Celebrity PR expert examines her style evolution, from cutesy, girlie stylist to meditation-loving entrepreneur…
Before she even started working on The X Factor as a hairstylist in the mid-noughties, Lou was busy making waves in the fashion and beauty sector with her twin sister Sam.
Raised in Hull, East Yorks, the girls would always experiment with different colours in their hair.
Lou revealed: “We’d mix our own hair dye by diluting the granny blue rinse.” She also admitted she would rock “big dreadlocks” as a teen.
At 18 the twins moved to London, where Lou started working in the music industry.
With her rainbow coloured locks, often dyed pink or platinum blonde, and bright red lippy, Lou was born to stand out - though it’s a far cry from her minimal make-up look of late.
Back in 2015, during a beauty interview she revealed her make up go-to was a “red lip”, although she tellingly added, “I think dark lipstick on older women is a no. I think it ages you.”
Fast forward a decade and she appears to be sticking to her own advice.
Ed Hopkins says Lou’s ability to match the youthfulness of her clients 1D back in the early days helped her standout in the industry, and gained her millions of followers on social media.
“By fully embracing a cute, colourful look with her rainbow tones, and playful makeup, an aesthetic that perfectly matched the band’s youthful, fun image, she stood out as a trusted stylist,” he says.
As well as being incredibly close with One Direction, Lou also hired Louis Tomlinson’s sister, Lottie, as an assistant when she was just 15.
They have since created tanning brand Tanologist together, proving Lou’s influence in the beauty industry is huge.
While promoting the product five years ago, Lou debuted a much more toned down look, keeping her long locks a golden brown but minimising the make up, no doubt to show off the tan.
This shift showcased Lou as more than just a stylist; she became a businesswoman with a keen eye for design

It reportedly caught the eye of David Walliams, who had already been working with Lou on Britain’s Got Talent.
The pair were said to have briefly dated before he allegedly started seeing one of Lou’s now best mates, Ashley Roberts.
Lou was famously also best friends with the late Caroline Flack before her death in 2020 and she went on to join her fellow X Factor alum Olly Murs in a charity trek to raise money for charity in Caroline’s memory.
As she looked to branch out from hairdressing, Lou rebranded herself as somewhat of an interiors expert, managing to land high profile pieces in upmarket magazines showing off her Hackney home renovation in 2021.
And with the career pivot came a whole new look. Gone were the bleach blonde locks of old, replaced instead by honey-highlighted hair, again, less makeup and a more sophisticated style. Ed reckons it was an incredibly smart move.
Her more provocative social media presence suggests she’s embracing a sexier, more daring persona

“This shift showcased Lou as more than just a stylist; she became a businesswoman with a keen eye for design,” he explains.
“This broadened her appeal to an audience beyond pop culture and aligned her with the growing trend of celebrities making moves in property and interiors.”
Following her split from SAS star Jay, who she’d dated between April 2022 and January last year, and in the months leading up to her meeting ex-England frontman Andy, Lou upped the ante on social media, posting a slew of provocative images showing off her tiny frame, often in very naughty poses.
Whether she was flashing her nipples under a tiny top, or teaming up with high-end lingerie companies to promote saucy new ranges, she’s managed to go from cutesy pop princess into sultry sex kitten. Again, Ed thinks it’s a great career move.
The ‘WAG’ association brings another layer to her public image
Edward Hopkins
“With her sexy era, Lou once again adapted her image,” he explains.
“Her more provocative social media presence suggests she’s embracing a sexier, more daring persona.
This is likely a strategic move to tap into the world of influencer marketing, where an edgier look can attract big money from fashion and lifestyle brands.
It’s a bold choice that shows her versatility, and it could very well boost her entrepreneurial brand by keeping her front-of-mind with a new, older audience.”
It’s little wonder she caught athlete Andy’s eye, in recent times Lou has shown off a very ‘sporty’ vibe, sharing selfies at the gym, or showing off her meditation and yoga prowess to fans on social media.
And Ed believes that from here on in, being a WAG won’t do Lou any harm at all.
“The ‘WAG’ association brings another layer to her public image,” he explains.
“From a PR perspective, being tied to a high-profile, divorced footballer could carry risks, but it’s also an opportunity to expand her narrative.
"People will be curious about her personal life, but Lou has always been more than the roles she steps into.
"If she continues to focus on her own brand and business ventures, this relationship won’t overshadow her career - it’ll simply add more interest to an already dynamic profile.”
Andy Carroll and his reality TV star wife, Billi Mucklow, have revealed they are divorcing after a turbulent two-year marriage.
In a statement, the ex-England, Newcastle, and Liverpool striker said: "Billi and I have privately separated earlier this year and we are under way with our divorce proceedings. It has been a hard few months for our family and we continue to move forward amicably for our children."
The pair, who share three kids, had been together for 11 years.
A source told us: "Andy and Billi care about each other a lot and have made some great memories together, but decided it was best for the family if they went their separate ways having grown apart. They’re still focusing on the kids and being the best parents they can be and being respectful of each other. They want the process to be straightforward for everyone involved. Andy has been throwing himself into his football."
