A GYPSY woman has revealed that she has decorated her home ready for Autumn and sleeps on plastic because she can’t stand stains.

Dominique Lee, a self-proclaimed ‘gypsy wife’ living in the UK, confessed that she washes and changes her bedding twice a week and doesn’t care that the plastic on her mattress feels like a crisp packet.

Posting on social media, the mum-of-four gave her followers a close-up look inside her home, leaving many open-mouthed.

With Autumn finally here, the proud gypsy has given her chalet home a mega makeover and kitted it out with bargains from Asda and Primark to mark the occasion.

Not only has she got orange mats on the floor in her kitchen, but she’s also stocked up on countless pumpkins and even Halloween themed glassware too.

As she prepared to tidy her home, Dominique said: “Come and have a night time tidy up with me.”

The busy mum then explained: “I made lamb and potato curry for tea, so I've got to wash all that up and I've got to wash the kids and put them to bed, but first I've got to put my clean bedding on.”

The content creator explained that she nabbed her stunning duvet set, which features deer, owls and rabbits, from Asda.

She then opened up on her gypsy tradition, as she confessed: “Yes, I do sleep with plastic on my mattresses.

“It’s still left on since we've had the chalet, I've done that with every trailer I've ever had, I just always leave the plastic on.

“I know it's like sleeping on top of a crisp packet, but I just can't cope with any stains or anything.”

Once her bedding was changed and her bed freshly made, she wiped down her hob and added: “It's just tidied up and washed up and bleached.”

To really get into the Autumn spirit, Dominique then lit her new pumpkin spice candles, as she added: “I love a candle. I think it's lovely, especially like in the Autumn/Winter time. Very cosy looking.

“I got this one at Primark and it matches the type of theme that I put in this year.”

A closer look at gypsy traditions

HERE we take a look at some of the traditions many gypsies follow...

Family-Centric Living: The family is the cornerstone of Romani life, with extended families often living close to one another. Elders are highly respected and play a crucial role in decision-making and maintaining cultural traditions.

Nomadic Heritage: Many Gypsy communities maintain a semi-nomadic lifestyle, moving seasonally to find work or attend cultural gatherings. This tradition is deeply rooted in their history and identity.

Distinctive Décor: Romani homes, whether they are caravans or fixed abodes, are often brightly decorated with vibrant colours and intricate patterns. These decorations reflect their rich cultural heritage and love for beauty.

Communal Gatherings: Social gatherings are a significant part of Gypsy life. Celebrations, such as weddings and religious festivals, are grand affairs involving music, dance, and feasting, often stretching over several days.

Spiritual Practices: Many Gypsy families incorporate a blend of Christian beliefs and traditional spiritual practices. Homes may feature religious icons and amulets believed to offer protection and bring good fortune.

Craftsmanship and Artistry: Romani people are renowned for their craftsmanship, particularly in metalwork, woodwork, and textiles. These skills are often passed down through generations and are a source of both pride and livelihood.

Hospitality: Hospitality is a valued tradition. Guests are treated with great respect and generosity, often being offered the best food and drink available as a sign of honour and goodwill.

Sharing Stories: Storytelling is a vital part of Romani culture, preserving history, morals, and lessons through generations. Elders often share tales that are both entertaining and educational.

And to ensure that her gorgeous home smells fresh, she then used the Febreze Cosy Season air mist from the Mrs Hinch range, which she confirmed she nabbed from Home Bargains, for just £1.99.

Thrilled with her cheap find, she beamed: “And I absolutely love this air freshener.”
