HYDRATING face mists are not just for summer.

With the temperatures dropping and wind blowing, keeping your skin calm and balanced is just as important during autumn – so I’ve road tested three this week.

Budget

Boots DermaCare Replenishing Face Mist, £6 for 100ml, boots.com.

Considering face mists are designed to “refresh on the go”, you would be surprised by how many are packaged in heavy, clunky bottles.

This isn’t one of them, though, as it could easily be tossed in a bag or slipped into a coat pocket.

Infused with barrier-boosting ceramides – which help lock in moisture – it instantly revives dry skin without irritation, thanks to its scent-free formula.

Mid-range

Curel Deep Moisture Spray, £15.60 for 150ml, lookfantastic.com.

If there was a beauty hall of fame, this face mist would feature.

Beloved by celebs and influencers, it’s difficult to scroll through social media without stumbling across this product. Why do I love it?

This skincare spray essentially produces an ultra-fine, continuous stream of mist, meaning you can hydrate your face and neck without looking like you’ve been splashed in the face.

Perfect for over and under make-up, the only drawback is the slightly sticky residue it leaves behind.

Luxury

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Hydrator Mist, £35 for 75ml, sephora.co.uk.

I had very high hopes for a product that calls itself “magic”, but this product left my face feeling irritated.

However, I must award points for how quickly it sunk into my skin, leaving it looking radiant – plus, it doubles up as a brilliant make-up setting spray.

It’s infused with a hydrating duo of hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, as well as a pollution defence complex, protecting your skin from car fumes, dust and weather.

Pick of the week

AFTER years of swearing against sweet, sugary fragrances, I’m coming to realise that I’ve been missing out.

I’m often sceptical of brands that go viral on social media but Phlur deserves every success and the new Vanilla Skin EDP, from £29 for 10ml, is delightful.

Balancing notes of cosy vanilla with elegant lily, it smells like the sugary wafts that escape from bakeries.
