She said that she has wanted to build a tiny home for years and loves that she can take her micro house with her if she wants to travel around the country.

The mum of one quit her job as a cleaner in 2021 after her daughter left home and decided that now was the perfect time to make her dream a reality.

Jessica said that she found the transition from her two-story 1800 square-foot home to 70-square-foot surprisingly easy.

"I always hated having so much room in a house that I never used", she told the YouTube channel.

"There's only so much space you use in a house and that's basically your bed and maybe your couch", she said.

"My daughter has flown the coop so it was just me in this big old house so I said it's time for me to fulfil my dreams."

Jessica said she is never really inside the house except when she is cooking or sleeping, so isn't fazed by the lack of space.

The tiny house is completely off-grid, and appliances such as her fridge are powered by a solar panel that Jessica attached to the roof of the shed.

To prevent her home from feeling cramped and claustrophobic, Jessica's shed has large windows on both sides.

"These big picturesque windows are what sold me on the tool shed when I purchased it", she said.

"I thought this would make a great tiny house, and what amazing views you could have in it."

To make the most out of her space, Jessica has a sofa, which she can chill on in the daytime, and which transforms into a queen size bed, which takes up almost all of the shed's space, at night.

She also has a compost toilet, a fire pit and even a secret garden.

In the garden, she has grown, beans tomatoes and carrots, helping her to become self-sufficient.

Tiny Homes FAQs

The tiny house movement began in the USA before gaining popularity in the UK.

What is a tiny home?

Tiny houses are small, fully-equipped living spaces designed to lead a more sustainable, off-grid lifestyle. Although they vary in size and shape, tiny homes tend to be between 15 and 50 square metres in capacity, made of sustainable materials and are easier — and cheaper — to maintain than traditional brick homes.

Are tiny homes legal in the UK?

As long as the tiny house doesn't exceed 19.8m x 6.7m in size, it is defined as a caravan in UK law. Therefore, tiny houses are classed as legal additional living space.

Can you get a mortgage for a tiny home?

The small size and relatively low cost of tiny houses means they’re not generally considered eligible for a mortgage. However, there are plenty of options to take out a loan to fund your dreams of the perfect, moveable home.

Jessica's tiny home even has an outdoor shower, so she can stargaze whilst having a wash.

She added that she always feels safe in her shed, as it even has its own surveillance system, which sends alerts directly to her home.

"Right now I'm just living my best life", she said.

"I'm not doing much of anything right now besides working on this tiny house and getting int finished."
