My fiance died a month before our wedding but I went on honeymoon alone – I wanted to see if life was still worth living

A HEARTBROKEN woman bravely travelled the world on her honeymoon despite her fiance dying a month before the wedding.

Laura Murphy went ahead with the solo trip designed for two to see if her life was still worth living after the shock passing of her partner.

The Canadian Tiktoker documented the holiday and was overwhelmed with the support online as she was praised for the bold and inspiring move.

Laura's life was torn to pieces after her husband-to-be Devon O'Grady, 31, tragically died back in May after a cardiac arrest.

Despite being grief-stricken Laura battled on with the honeymoon after saying she had grown fed up of "feeling guilty" and being alone.

She packed her bags and made the long trip over to England saying her intentions was to find out if her "life is still worth living".

The lawyer told The Washington Post: "It's very lonely and isolating because I knew no one my age who had lost a partner.

"I needed to find people who could relate because I wanted to know how to go on.

"I also felt I needed to remove myself from my hometown and our house.

"I was just sort of sitting there for months not knowing what to do with myself."

To try and combat the lonely trip into Europe Laura decided to post all about her travels on TikTok.

Her account quickly filled up with videos of famous London landmarks, her favourite food spots and even her journey across the English Channel to France.

She said: "It's very out of character for me to be travelling alone, and it's even more out of character to be documenting it for the world."

Some of the videos also showed the tougher moments for Laura where she opened up about wanting to have a "good cry" or to just spend the day in bed.

But Laura says she was glad she went ahead with the trip as thousands of people started to leave her loving messages of support.

Many were people in a similar position to her who had recently lost loved ones and appreciated the new worldwide community Laura had created.

Laura spoke on the support network that has grown since the solo honeymoon in a touching TikTok.

She said: "I have truly been so overwhelmed with all of the love and I wish I could respond to everyone and hang out with you all.

"I remember saying to my dad, 'I need you to find me someone who has been through this' because I needed evidence that it was possible to survive it."

Laura and Devon had spent years living together in Newfoundland with their two loving dogs Leni and Chewy.

The couple first met in a bizarre but unforgettable circumstance when Devon rescued a panicked Laura after she had managed to get stuck in a stairwell.

Devon heard his future lover banging on a locked door and rushed to her aid as the pair started a blossoming relationship.

Tragically, Devon died in his office - which was across the hall from Laura - back in May.

She says the sounds of the ambulances rushing to the building still haunt her to this day.
