GRATING cheese may sound like a basic kitchen task, but it turns out we may have been doing it wrong all these years.
One woman showed how she discovered there is a new way of using her grater which makes it a whole lot easier.
TikTok user shared how instead of holding the grater upright and swiping the cheese up and down it, you should instead lie it flat.
She demonstrated holding the handle to keep it secure, and then rubbing the cheese horizontally over the flat top.
Not only is the hack easy to do, it also produces less mess.
She showed how the cheese falls though inside the grater, and is contained without the sides, meaning it doesn’t fly everywhere.

“I’m still cringing at myself for not knowing this sooner.”

Another wrote: “This could have saved my knuckles a long time ago.”
And a third commented: “I’m blaming my mother, because she taught me with the other way. I knew she was wrong.”
Although some people agreed the sideways method is much easier, others insisted it's totally wrong.
So, which way do you use your box grater?
Meanwhile, another woman left people stunned after revealing a hidden function in her cheese grater.
Sasha said she always messes up her cheese block by trying to get nice, thin slices off with a knife.
So when she saw a hack online to get perfect slices with a hidden feature on a traditional grater, she had to give it a try.
to document herself testing the hack, which involved using the lines on the side of the triangular grater.
"Never have I even realised that this slides here and it will create a perfect..." she said.
Sasha then exclaimed: "No way. Oh my God!"
The clip showed her sliding the block down the slides, before taking out the slices from the inside of the grater.
"I am shook," she concluded.
