What does your handwriting say about you?

Everything from the way you space your letters, the direction they slant in and the size of your words can tell other people something about you.

Speaking to , Elaine Quigley, a leading British Graphologist, said: "Writing is 'brainwriting' and the script and its placing on the page express the unique impulses of the individual, as the brain sends signals along the muscles to the writing implement they control."

Does size matter?

The size of your text can tell a graphologist a lot about your personality.

If your handwriting is larger, it can mean you're outgoing and a bit of an extrovert, people loving and enjoy attention.
But it could also mean that you're putting on a show of confidence.

Therefore, small handwriting could be said to mean the opposite - that you're shy, withdrawn or studious and good at concentrating.

It could also mean you're independent and a creative thinker.

Medium sized writing is said to mean you're well adapted and well-adjusted.

What does a slant in writing mean?

If you've got no slant, it could mean that you don't let your emotions get the better of you when you're writing, so you tend to be logical and practical.

It can also point to independence.

If your handwriting slants to the right, it can indicate a response to communication, so the writer might want to be kind, manipulative or a whole host of things.

Slanting to the right may also mean you are open to new experiences and are happy to meet new people.

If your writing slants to the left, it can mean you're shy and would generally want to keep to yourself; you're reserved emotionally.

What messages does the shape of your writing give out?

Rounded letters can be a sign of creativity and an artistic nature, while pointed letters may signal intelligence and even aggression.

If your letters are connected, it can mean you're logical and systematic when it comes to making decisions.

Does the pressure of your writing make a difference?

The lighter you press your pen into the paper means you are sensitive and can show empathy.

People who use heavy pressure when writing tend to be good with commitment, take things seriously, but can be a bit uptight.

Recently it was revealed that your choice of colour combinations can reveal your personality traits, while there are six personality traits that could mean your partner is a cheat.
