My husband told his coworkers I’m his sister – I went through his phone to confirm his lie & almost burst into flames
A WIFE was shocked after hearing that her spouse was telling his coworkers that she was a relative — and not one of a romantic nature.
Not about to let him get away with it, she set out in search of the truth to see if her marriage was a ruse or it was all a simple miscommunication.
Redditor shared that even though she and her husband have been together for six years and married for four, he seemed to have had amnesia about who she was.
She had considered them to be in a "healthy" and "communicative" relationship, leaving her shocked to learn that her husband's co-workers had no idea she was his significant other.
Since starting his job three years ago, she explained how she had never been invited to meet any of his colleagues, something which didn't seem to bother her all that much.
A REVEALING RUN-IN
That was until a peculiar encounter at a bar when she was approached by someone who seemed to know who she was.

After informing her that he worked with her husband, she realized that she recognized him from some photos on her husband's phone.
She was even more confused, however, when he remarked how it was great that she and her husband were so close as he hadn't spoken with his own brother "in ages."
She assumed he was drunk and left with her friends shortly after he started to get "flirty."
She decided not to mention anything to anyone.
"I also decided not to tell my husband that I had met his coworker, Jake," she said.
"Not to hide it, but because I figured the guy wouldn't even remember talking to me, and I didn't want to make it awkward for Josh at work by telling him his colleague tried to hit on me.
"I just thought no harm no foul."
She couldn't ignore the next strange occurrence, however.
HERE WE GO, AGAIN
While stopping by a local cafe with her dog, an older man seemed to already be familiar with the pooch.
"He got his coffee and turned around, but stopped and looked at my dog and goes, 'Hello Monty!'" she said.
"Monty was super excited to see him, apparently, and so I guessed that the guy was another colleague of Josh's because Josh brings the dog to the office a couple of times a week."
And the dog wasn't the only thing he recognized.
"He introduced himself (I guessed correctly that he was a colleague), but then he said something like, '"Aren't you a good sister, walking his dog for him!"'
She was so taken aback that she replied by letting him know it was her dog — but that was the only thing she set the record straight on.
"I regret it, but I genuinely couldn't bring myself to correct him and say that I'm Josh's wife and not his sister," she said.
"It was just too awkward, and I just wanted to leave because I think it was suddenly dawning on me what might have been going on."
She was left confused as to how to handle the awkward situation.
"But the thought that he has been telling his coworkers that I'm his sister (and evidently they have seen what I look like, so they must have seen photos) makes my stomach churn," she said.
"I don't even know how I would broach the subject with him."
PLAYING DETECTIVE
To confirm her suspicions, there was only one thing left to do.
"I followed some advice and decided to look through his phone properly while he was sleeping," she said.
She shared how she knows his passcode "by heart."
It didn't take long to find something that caused her antenna to go up — way up.
"Anyway, I was already upset to see that he had a bunch of one-on-one chats with several female coworkers," she said.
While she didn't fault him for communicating with his colleagues, she did find some messages that were "vaguely flirty," consisting of a wink emoji or "playful" innuendo.
"These upset me, obviously, and they did send me into a bit of a spiral, but I didn't find anything that suggested he was having an out-and-out affair with any of them," she said.
Still, she wound up screenshotting the messages and continued on with her search for more "evidence" of the lie.
UP IN FLAMES
After remembering a commentator had suggested she search for the keyword "sister," a treasure trove of texts was revealed.
Her past encounter with his coworker at the bar had come back to haunt her.
'"Ran into your sis at [the bar] on Fri. She's single right?"' read the message.
Her husband replied: "Nah, she's married."
She was burning up — literally.
"I literally almost burst into flames on the spot when I saw that," she said.
"I can't even describe how much I was shaking after reading those messages."
As she went through past messages, she found a group chat with a photo of the couple celebrating their second anniversary in Bali.
He simply wrote, '"Me and sis in Nusa Dua."
"I was in tears seeing all of this, obviously," she said.
She thought he only sent that photo since he was shirtless.
After finally confronting him, he first denied there was any truth to her claims, then admitted he did it to fit in at his workplace, which he described as a "frat house," as his coworkers are much younger.
She now had to decide whether to forgive or forget — aka file for divorce.
PEOPLE WEIGH IN
Others thought they could see quite clearly what was really going on here.
"So he’s either having an affair at work or keeping his options open. Neither good," said a user.
"My thoughts were [he said this] so he appeared [to be] single. He either is opening up the possibility to cheat or already is," another agreed.
"He may be cheating on you but you’ll never know because he’s a liar and would never tell you," a Redditor commented.

"I think you know your marriage is over. At least I hope you do before you waste any more time on this loser," they added.
"The man has been playing you for three years. You deserve better!" yet another chimed in.
