She was also able to fit the unit with plumbing, building a fully-functioning bathroom and kitchen.

She added large glass patio doors that allowed lots of natural light into the unit.

Paige also cut a large circular window at the end of the container, where she placed her bed.

She described the circular window as one of her ";biggest financial splurges."

Rules for moving into a shipping container

UK-based company Gap Containers shared the rules to follow when converting a shipping container. You need to:

  • Apply for planning permission before getting started.
  • Permanent structures may need to be blended into the surroundings in certain regions.
  • Consider if your structure will impede the privacy of your neighbours.
  • If the container will cover more than half of the land surrounding your property, be taller than the closest property or be connected to permanent utility supplies, local authority approval will probably be required.

"Oh wow!! That’s awesome. A much less fancy version of this would be my absolute dream," wrote one impressed viewer.

"I really want to do this some day. I don't want a mortgage for house and land, just land to build my own thing on it," said another follower.

"The TV being able to swing out to face either way is a brilliant idea," pointed out one person.

"You’re absolutely amazing girl. Well done. Looks phenomenal," wrote another TikTok user.
