I still use a makeup technique from back in the day, like 2012 – people act like it should be illegal but it looks nicer

Others shared their own 'old school' favorites

WHEN it comes to 2010s makeup, much of it was replaced with newer techniques and products.

Like fashion, cosmetic trends are ever-changing, but one beauty junkie said she's not ready to let go of her 2012 swag.

Redditor revealed her makeup step that she can't go without, although many have called it "illegal."

"I know it's wrong, but [I'm] not going to lie, I just use bronzer to 'contour,'" she said.

"I'm aware that I'm just bronzing, and contour is supposed to be cool toned, but back in the day (I don't know, like 2012) we'd all just slap some bronzer under our cheekbones and call it contouring."

She added that she wasn't ready to give up the method from a decade ago.

"I still like that look," she said.

CONTOUR CONTROVERSY

Perfect-cat6793 explained why the method, which has been replaced with newer techniques, is still the one for her.

"It adds dimension to my face while bringing some life to it," she said.

"I'm cool under-toned, so you'd think it would look off, but I feel like contouring products just make my face look dirty."

Several Redditors chimed in to reveal that they too have so-called outdated makeup routines.

"Night, day, and age mean nothing to me," one wrote.

"I'm 36. Sometimes I put on a glitter smokey eye in the middle of the day, or a graphic liner to go to the coffee shop.

"If I like it, it goes on my face.

"It's not like I have any big events to go to, when am I going to have a chance to go all out?"

Another said she's inspired during her coffee runs, by a glamorous barista who marches to the beat of her own drum.

"This elderly lady who works at Starbucks is my inspiration," they said.

"She has pink hair and wears glittery eye makeup and all kinds of stuff and she’s amazing."

A third said they're not letting trends stop their shine.

"I'm older and haven't given up the shimmery, glittery, holographic eyeshadows," they gushed.

"I love them, even if I am supposed to be demure and neutral, according to "makeup rules.'"

One more Redditor, a makeup fan in her 50s, gave some words of wisdom on passing trends.

"I’m 57 and I still do a smokey eye just to go to work," she said.

"Eat dessert first, buy the makeup, go on the trips, and wear whatever makes your heart sing."
