From slimming shots to tips from BFF Taylor Swift – the secrets behind Lana Del Rey’s ‘Insta baddie’ transformation
LANA DEL REY is set to grace the stages of the Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend in what will no doubt be stunning headline performances.
It has been a busy year for the Video Games singer, 39, who wowed fans across the world when she performed at California's Coachella festival, back in April.
She looked stunning in a blue Dolce & Gabbana dress adorned with Swarovski crystals which she paired with sparkly white cowboy boots whilst showcasing warm caramel tones in her hair.
It had all the markings of a so-called 'glow up' and made her almost unrecognisable compared with the year before when she stepped onto the stage at Glastonbury with darker hair and wearing a more structured outfit.
As all eyes fall on her again this weekend just how did Lana achieve her "insta baddie" - a woman who looks flawless - glow up?
Tips from BFF Taylor Swift
Lana debuted a noticeably slimmer figure in her Coachella performance, leading many to believe that she may have been using weight-loss injections.

The Summertime Sadness hitmaker has not commented on the suggestion, although she has hinted at the reason behind her smaller frame.
Back in May, the star shared an Instagram post in which she was seen wearing a Dogpound sweatshirt.
Dogpound is a gym, through which Lana's bestie Taylor Swift gets personal training.
Appearing to confirm that Lana too uses Dogpound's personal training services, the company commented "Fammm", on her post.
They then shared the post, writing "Guess who is in the new new for summer?"
Taylor enlisted the help of Dogpound to prepare for her mammoth Eras tour, and trains six days a week, for up to two hours a day.
Slimming shots
Lana previously revealed to Harper's Bazaar that the secret to her 'Insta baddie' look involved drinking wheatgrass.
She said: "I am drinking so much wheat grass, wearing so much neon, going to so many spin classes that it's ridiculous.
"I am living the secret life of an Instagram baddie quietly in L.A."
Baby doll make-up trend
Lana used to favour a grungy, kohl liner look, but has opted to transition to the baby doll make-up trend in recent performances, which Fabulous writer Mia Lyndon said has made her look younger.
Mia explains: "Polished skin, an overlined cupid bow and OTT blusher are all hallmarks of the baby doll make-up trend - and Lana is nailing it.
Four ways to give yourself a glowdown
Thick fluffly lashes are out, so is the fake tan and long nails...here's how to have the ultimate glow-down in four steps...
The term "glow-down" refers to a woman removing what once was the most popular beauty choices, for a more natural look.
Eyelash extensions - Thick, bold "Russian lashes" used to be all the rage, but nowadays, girls are opt for subtle, individual eyelash extensions to lengthen what they already have.
Nails - Gone are the long, plastic talons, more women are favouring BIAB or gel manis.
Hair colour - Remember when everyone wanted icy white hair? Not anymore! Millions of women are trying to go back to their roots (literally), and have soft blondes, and warm gold tones added to their hair, in a bid to achieve the "old money blonde" look.
Makeup - Sculpting your face shape through the art of contouring is no more. Ladies are adding freckles and sweeping blush across cheekbones instead.
"Popularised by celebs like Sabrina Carpenter, this full-glam look - reminiscent of Disney Princesses and Bratz dolls - has been clashing with the once-monopolising 'clean girl' aesthetic, and coming out on top.
"Over-accentuated eyes and lips are key to Lana's Coachella look, which add a soft, Bambi-esque feel.
"I'm particularly impressed with her eye make-up which blends flattering copper eyeshadow with warming chocolate and brightening champagne hues, alongside tapered lash extensions (responsible for that doe eye look).
"It's finished off with white eyeliner applied to her lower waterline, which is an age-old trick for brightening and widening eyes.
"This, of course, is world's away from the undone, shabby chic look she used to sport, which often featured grungy kohl liner and oversized feline flicks. Instead, her new-found use of brighter, lighter eye makeup provides a softer, more youthful look."
Mia adds that Lana's new lighter hair, helps to elevate her look.
She explains: "Speaking of change, Lana's also dyed her hair and this new balayage look combines creamy blonde, copper and auburn highlights.
"Her offset parting and face-framing layers styled into smooth waves elevate her look without making it appear overly kitsch - I'm taking not."
Sophisticated fashion switch
Fabulous fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend reveals how Lana's fashion sense has evolved over the years.
She says: "Lana has gone from Americana bombshell to vampy siren.
"Our first fashion view of her was her music for Video Games.
"The white vest, the gold jewellery, the pale pink pan-stick style lipstick. It was all very stylised 'trailer trash'.
"This style then evolved into lace dresses and flower crowns - think Coachella and Snapchat filters.
"Perhaps she was taking notes from Taylor Swift's style book who went through a similar lacey, baby-doll phase.
"Thankfully it didn't last too long.
"She dabbled in Priscilla Presley style bee-hive hair and sixties dresses with applique and pastel tones, something that didn't really fit her sultry-sounding voice or demeanour.
"Since, she's updated her style to a more sophisticated switch of corseted dresses, dark and vampy make-up and frocks to match.
This was most evident when she wore one of Alexander McQueen's runway looks for this years Met Gala that was a dull cream coloured, tulle dress covered in embellishment resembling thorny branches and one big branch on her head."
