“I had read that spearmint tea has anti-androgenic effects so I thought it would be worth a try as nothing else I’ve tried has worked.
“Oh my God as of the last couple of days my skin is literally at least 70% better.. like I could cry I’m so relieved.”
She said her hormonal acne increasingly got worse after she lost a considerable amount of weight last year.
Being underweight also caused her period to stop.

She described the tea as having a “minty and earthy” taste.
“I brew it for about 20-30 minutes but it still doesn’t taste very strong to me so it is not overwhelmingly minty or anything,” she said.
According to , spearmint has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties, and antioxidants.
The plant has been proven to reduce knee pain and aid sleep, but there is limited research supporting claims that it’s beneficial for treating acne.

What causes hormonal acne?
According to , hormonal acne is often triggered by a rise in androgen levels.
There is no evidence to support claims that it is caused by chocolate, poor hygiene, and sex.
Symptoms include whiteheads, blackheads, cysts, and nodules.
“It controls acne but is more widely used to help cut back on darker facial hair caused by hormonal imbalances.
“It really does work!”
Another commenter said they saw an improvement in their skin within two weeks of drinking spearmint tea with ashwagandha.
