I’m being shamed for my twin boys’ name choices – people say I’m ‘begging’ for them to be bullied

AN expectant mum shared the names she was considering for her twin boys.
The pregnant woman asked fellow parents online to vote for their favourite pair of names.
In a on Mumsnet, the user revealed her top seven name combinations.
Included in her options were: Caledon and Tennyson, Emeric and Omri, Eben and Gable, Hart and Ivo, Penny and Roscoe, Inigo and Ozias, and Hale and Gray.
Mumsnet users shared their thoughts on the suggestions in the comments section.
"Sorry but some of those are just begging for the kid to be teased. Penny? Really?" asked one person.
"Penny for a boy? Sorry but not keen on most of those," said another reader.
"It looks like you can't spell, Eben, do you mean Eden?"
"Not a fan of any of them, why on earth would you call a boy Penny?" asked a third Mumsnet user.
"Please don’t use these names. Your poor boys," wrote another parent.
"Sorry, not particularly keen. They sound overly fanciful, I assume to make you feel like you sound unusual or creative but that sadly isn’t how it comes across," said one Mumsnet user.
"Unless there is some deep connection to any of them, I’d look for something lower risk."
"You can’t call a boy Penny," said another commenter.
"Please don’t use Penny for a boy, it would be unfair to him and Gable sadly might cause teasing too," pointed out one person.
"Hart will also likely get called fart and I’m afraid Emeric sounds medical to me, even though I’m aware it’s a name used in other countries."
"So many oppprtunties for a great pairing of names, but none on your list. Sorry, don't like any of them," commented another reader.
One Mumsnet user described the options as "quite a bonkers list".
Many parents are opting for meaningful names in 2024 with unisex names on the rise due to their unique element, it's hard to categorise them.
With celebrities at the forefront of this growing trend, after Ed Sheeran named his latest addition Jupiter Seaborn, and Kylie Jenner who named her newborn Aire - it would seem having a unique, unisex name is more common than you think.
Unusual baby names documented in 2024 include:
"Wow, no. A bit too try-hard for me," said another person.
"They’re all pretty weird but please don’t give a male child a girl’s name," wrote one parent.
"Most of these are just being way over the top [and] trying too hard," pointed out another commenter.
"Penny is a girl's name. Gable! Really? It’s a part of a type of roof!
"Caledon sounds like a hybrid of cauliflower and kale and also looks like celadon spelt wrongly."
Meanwhile, one mum revealed she had named her son after a piece of furniture.
