To help combat pollen entering your home, Danny advises against opening your windows in the early to mid-morning, as that's when flowers release pollen, and in the evening, when hot air cools and falls, carrying pollen with it.

"Ensure window frames and sills are free from mould and condensation to reduce pollen infiltration into your home,” he adds.

Saltwater nasal sprays

Clean pollen away before bed
It's also important to ensure you're not taking pollen from the day to bed with you. Make sure you wash your hair and clean your face and eyelashes before bed to stop allergens rubbing onto your pillow and exacerbating symptoms.
