HANDS are one of the quickest areas of the body to show signs of aging - but wrinkles and loose skin are preventable, according to a doctor.
Dr. Miriam Adebibe shared her tips for maintaining the appearance of youthful skin on the hands.
has over 15 years of experience as a trained surgeon and offers aesthetic treatments at her East London, England clinic.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared must-try tips for defying the signs of aging.
BAD HABITS
Dr. Adebibe revealed various daily habits can worsen the appearance of skin on the hands.
“Hands are one of the first body parts to show the signs of aging,” she said.

“Hands work hard being in constant use, exposed to soaps, harsh chemicals, and all kinds of weather, including the sun.
“The skin may become thin, loose, and somewhat wrinkly with the appearance of underlying veins.
“Sunspots may begin to appear, which are awfully aging.”
INCREDIBLE INGREDIENTS
Dr. Adebibe said a broad-spectrum sunscreen protects against UV damage, but it isn’t the only skincare ritual to embrace.

She recommended stimulating collagen production with active vitamin A, vitamin C, and alpha-hydroxy acids.
“Many studies show biopsy evidence of increasing collagen production which will improve the texture of the skin,” she said.
“For those experiencing sun spots on the hands try tyrosinase inhibitors, to reduce the extra pigment production and even out skin tone.
“Moisturise skin and nails to maintain your skin barrier and reduce the appearance of dry wrinkly skin.”
TERRIFIC TREATMENTS
Dr. Adebibe said aside from active ingredients in topical creams and serums there are a selection of effective clinical treatments.
“Injectable skin boosters, such as Profhilo or Neauvia’s Hydrodeluxe, are used to hydrate the skin as well as stimulate collagen production in the long term,” she said.
Cryopen and laser treatment can be used to remove sun spots.

“Polynucleotide treatment is entirely regenerative, using DNA fragments as messengers to improve both skin texture and volume for an overall more youthful appearance.
“The results with this are exciting.”
Dr. Adebibe said microneedling uses needles to cause “tiny micro-injuries in the skin.”
She revealed it rejuvenates the skin by triggering the body to produce elastin and collagen while building a fresh layer of “tighter, smoother, and youthful” skin.
“Cryopen and laser treatment can be used to remove sun spots, though lasers have a longer recovery time,” she said.
“Failing these, surgery for a hand-lift can be done for severe cases.”
Dr. Adebibe previously told The U.S Sun that microneedling is equally effective for reducing the appearance of puffy under-eye bags.

She said dark circles can be diminished with dermal fillers or polynucleotide treatment.
