However, her discounted buy is still set to cost her a lot more money from day-to-day operation.

"My water bill is going to be sky high, I’m estimating £450 and I know that’s a lot but I knew it was going to be expensive going in to get a pool of this size," Lynsey said.

She added that the pool took her days to fill as she was only using her garden hose.

However, Lynsey pointed out all the advantages to her set-up, explaining that it may even save the family money in the long run.

"The way I look at it is we don’t have to go out all summer holidays because the fun is in our back garden so we save money in doing that anyway," she explained.

She also said that the joy that the pool brought her children was worth it.

Lynsey described the backyard pool as a "core memory" for her entire family.

Lynsey also revealed that they planned to leave the pool up year-round, using a heater and gazebo during the winter months.

She explained that this would allow them to avoid wasting the water after only two months of use during the summer.

To keep the water fresh, she invested in chlorine tablets and other chemicals, joining an above-ground pool group on Facebook for further guidance.

She joked that keeping up with the maintance was like having a "part-time job."

Lynsey said that the pool bundle featured almost everything she needed, including the ladder, the sand filter, the solar heater, the cover, and the net.

Keep bugs out of your pool this summer

One of the easiest ways to keep bugs out of your pool is to cover it with a dark sheet (like bin bags) when it's not in use.

This can also help keep the water warm for kids as well.

Bug traps around the pool can also be useful.

To naturally stop bugs from coming around you can plant such as lavender, basil or mint as they hate the smell.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the set-up in the comments section.

"If I had a big enough garden, I would do this too, it's amazing! I'm struggling with the thought that my kids have no fun memories like this," wrote one impressed viewer.

"The amount of money people spend [on holidays], I would rather this massive swimming pool," said another person.
