ADD THE SALT

In a now-viral TikTok video, Jimmy Ruttan () explained what he does to keep his food safe while enjoying the wilderness.

First, he fills up his cooler with ice.

You will then want to grab a box of salt.

He suggested pouring about a quarter box of the salt all over the ice.

While he used iodized table salt, he confirmed that any type of food-safe salt, including coarse or rock salts, would still work.

Next, you can throw in your favorite refrigerated and frozen food items.

If you want to try the same brand of salt on your next outdoor outing, Amazon sells , which is on sale for $9.95.

FRESHER FOR LONGER

To ensure everything stays fresh, make sure to do this – insulate.

After putting all the frozen items on ice, he covered them with an insulated board and then put the refrigerated products on top.

For best results, he suggested using a one-and-a-half-inch rigid foam insulation.

MORE TIPS

“You should do an insulation divider down the middle, right side do the freezer, left side do the fridge, and put the insulation on top still!” said one viewer.

“Use dry ice in the bottom with the insulation on top – the whole thing turns into a freezer,” said a user.

“Salted ice water is a sommelier hack for cooling down bottles very fast,” yet another commented.
