An entire stick of butter was than placed on top as well plenty of milk before everything was mixed together.

The foodies then added more milk and even more crisps until the mixture began to break down.

After all of that, a thick layer of grated mozzarella cheese was scattered on top and the dish was baked until ooey and gooey.

Everything that got a final mix and voila - the so-called mash potato was ready to eat.

Janelle and Kate even claimed the recipe was "the best mashed potato hack" in the caption of the clip.

"My blood pressure is spiking watching this," a third said.

"This is exactly what I envision American cuisine to be," another commented.

Meanwhile, another TikTok user thought the grub looked so gross that "it should be illegal."

However, one brave foodie said they'd be intrigued to at least give it a go, "I would try it honestly," they wrote.

And someone else said: "It doesn't look that bad, it would probably be a little weird because of the crips but it's not THAT bad."
