A ''FAT activist'' in a loving relationship smaller man has hit back at cruel trolls who insist that mixed-weight couples are ''unacceptable''.
Megan Ixim, from New York, who's been dating her boyfriend, Todd, for some time now, slammed critics who are ''uncomfortable with fat women having their love story''.
This comes after some people dubbed the Netflix hit series Bridgerton ''unrealistic'' because of curvy actress Nicola Coughlan's steamy scenes with fellow star Luke Newton.
Sharing her thoughts, Megan said that people shouldn't describe couples as ''mixed-weight'' as it only feeds into the notion that plus-size women relationships is an ''oddity'' that doesn't happen often - or straight out ''unacceptable''.
In a chat with , the content creator suggested that this is deeply rooted in sexism - because relationships ''in which the man is the larger partner do not raise any flags''.
Recently, a now widely criticised opinion piece by Virgie Tovar on Forbes, the author said that the relationship between the two fictional characters ''defied romance plotline convention'' because the woman is ''larger'' than her partner.

Megan said: ''The term 'mixed-weight' couples only exists because people are uncomfortable with fat women having their love story.
''We only see this term when it is applied in heteronormative relationships where the woman is larger than the man because public relationships in which the man is the larger partner do not raise any flags: Just look at every sitcom in the '90s and noughties.
I think it’s incredibly important to portray loving supportive relationships as a fat woman

''We are all in a "mixed", insert descriptive here, relationship - whether it's height, hair, race, gender, etc.
This term, she continued, ''is used to make it appear as if a fat woman being in a romantic relationship is an oddity''.

Despite what the trolls have to say, Megan - who boasts an army of 112k fans on - said they were ''thriving nonetheless''.
This is not the first time the social media star has bravely opened up about her life - talking in , Megan explained that when she first joined dating apps in 2014, it was a negative experience.
Right away, the then 24-year-old was met with a seemingly never-ending flow of either insults or fetishization.
''They tell you there are millions of fish in the sea, but what they don't tell you is that 95 per cent of those fish are just waiting to insult or fetishize your entire existence in a single sentence.
She added: ''When it's still OK to hate fat people openly, why would I think random strangers would treat me with respect, especially when there are no consequences beyond a block and delete?
